Primary Role

The Production Mechanic I may be assigned to perform any responsibility of the Production Mechanic I that lies within the capabilities of the employee based on experience, knowledge, qualifications, and training

Key Accountabilities

  • Perform and/or assist with repairs to, and the maintenance of, equipment and facilities such as, but not limited to chemical pump cleaning, piping repairs and modifications, cleaning and painting of equipment and structures, machinery lubrication, pump adjustments, equipment analysis and data collection, vibration, temperature, and electrical readings, and analytical water testing equipment.
  • Calibration and routine maintenance of control systems, including troubleshooting and diagnostics of related software and hardware.
  • Maintain the appearance of water treatment facilities and grounds in accord with Company standards.
  • Prioritize and coordinate tasks and/or activities required for the efficient, safe, and reliable operation of water and sewerage treatment facilities and related appurtenances.
  • Receive and distribute chemicals in accord with established Company, state, and/or federal safety standards and or practices.
  • The Production Mechanic I may also be assigned to perform any responsibility that lies within the capabilities of the employee based on experience, knowledge, qualifications and training

Knowledge/Skills

  • The Production Mechanic Level I must possess a working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and computer theories, applications, and hardware configurations.
  • An understanding of the distribution system network including, but not limited to, gradients, capacities, interconnections, mapping, service territory and facility locations to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the water treatment facility and related appurtenances.
  • The Production Mechanic I must be capable of operating equipment and vehicles necessary for the completion of assignments and must possess a commercial driver’s license with appropriate endorsements.
  • The Production Mechanic I will be required to pass a qualification examination developed by the Company prior to the conclusion of the qualification period, and will be required to obtain and maintain a T-2 and W-1 in accord with the educational and operational criteria established by the State of New Jersey.
  • The individual will also be required to pass an initial and annual OSHA medical examination, and must be able to perform the essential functions and meet the physical requirements for Production Mechanic I.
  • Working knowledge of company policies, procedures, and safety practices as well as State and Federal rules and regulations applicable to area of responsibility including, but not limited to, OSHA.

Experience/Education

Progression: The Production Mechanic I will be required to progress to Production Mechanic II within four years, and will be required to meet the entrance requirements for Production Mechanic II. Failure to achieve the skill level required to successfully complete the Level II examination within the specified time period will result in the employee’s loss of the Production Mechanic position

  • Certifications & Licenses:
  • Will be required to obtain and maintain a T-2 and W-1 in accord with the educational and operational criteria established by the State of New Jersey.
  • Valid drivers license; CDL B preferred. CDL B will be required to obtain within specific time frame.
