Eatons Fuel and Motion Control Systems division, a part of our Aerospace group, is currently seeking a Lead Production Support Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Jackson, MS office.Position Overview:The Lead Production Support Engineer performs engineering assignments having complete responsibility for medium to high complex products. This responsibility includes but not limited to gathering and analyzing production assembly and test data related to test failures, determining root cause(s), implementing solutions, and continuous improvement projects.The incumbent will serve in a customer facing product support and resolution of unit field issues is also included. Products include electric motor pumps, engine driven pumps, hydraulic motors, hydraulic heat exchangers, and hydraulic reservoirs.The Jackson facility has approximately 550 employees and is a leader in the design, development, manufacture and delivery of Aerospace hydraulic components, systems and services to the global aftermarket and OEM markets.Making what matters work at Eaton takes the passion of every employee around the world. Its where bold, bright professionals like you can reach your full potentialand where you can help us reach ours.In this function you will:+ Performs a variety of design and engineering calculations generally involving the application of advanced but standard mathematical formulas and available tabled or charted data. May derive formulas for the set up and solution of engineering problems.+ Develops design of experiments (DOE) to isolate failures and determine root cause(s).+ Prepares test procedures/plans in conjunction with engineering assignments. Evaluates test results with guidance from more senior engineers.+ Monitors and direct engineering service groups that are conducting tasks such as drafting or analysis.+ Implements improvements to test procedures, specifications, and engineering drawings in conjunction with engineering assignments. Conducts/Leads 8D problem solving projects related to low test yield products. Drives cost out/reduction through continuous improvement projects related to manufacturing, assembly, and test.+ Participates in internal design reviews and design discussions existing and new products.+ Conducts/leads unit field failure investigations that include determination of failure root cause, corrective action needed, creation of technical reports, and regular discussions with the customer with no guidance or oversight. These meetings are to be conducted in such as way as to be seen by the customer as technically competent within the field of hydraulic components.+ Drive cost reduction results through analysis and preparation of engineering change proposals. Prepare engineering proposals by compiling, preparing and providing technical data.+ Mentor less senior engineers and possibly have less senior engineers as direct reports..When we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we as individuals and as a company are stronger.+ QualificationsRequired (Basic) Qualifications:+ Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university+ Minimum of five (5) years of engineering experience+ Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future+ This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.+ No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 60-mile radius of Jackson, MS will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.Preferred qualifications:+ Masters Degree in Engineering or Business from an accredited institution+ Experience with 3D CAD modeling and the creation of detailed drawings+ Knowledge of standard aerospace manufacturing processes and ability to design for manufacturability+ Experience with project and schedule management+ Knowledge of aerospace component test methods and capabilities+ Strong background / understanding of hydraulic components and function with a hydraulic system.+ Ability to interpret aerospace technical requirement and knowledge of industry standard requirements+ Six Sigma Green Belt or Black BeltPosition Criteria:+ Attention to detail+ Ability to learn and apply new concepts.+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills+ The selected applicant should be a fast-thinker and problem solver+ Knowledge of basic Microsoft and Microsoft Office applications+ Work assignments may be varied and challenging but will involve complete responsibility/accountability. It is expected that this engineer would rely on the experience and guidance of more seasoned engineers when dealing with technical issues, but they must be self-directed as regards to the ownership and management of their tasks and schedules.
