Key Capabilities:

Leidos is looking for a highly qualified subject matter expert to support our National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Defense Programs customer to complete the B61-12 Life Extension Program (LEP). This is a full-time contractor-support position ultimately located on-site at the NNSA offices in Albuquerque, NM but teleworking until regular on-site access is allowed.

Primary Responsibilities

The B61-12 Life Extension Program (LEP) Division, NA-125.1, has an immediate need for a full-time individual to provide technical issue monitoring and component production tracking support to the B61-12 Federal Program Manager (FPM) and Federal Lead Engineer, as well as liaison with other Defense Programs (DP) and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) organizations associated with the B61-12 Program. The individual will coordinate with NNSA Federal engineers and other technical staff to support continuous production efforts of Non-Nuclear Design Laboratory designed components for the B61-12 Program. The work performed is extensive in scope and requires experienced individuals with demonstrated program/project management, appropriate technical expertise, self-starting, and the ability to work in a highly dynamic environment, and interface with broad range of federal and military senior staff and leadership.

Broadly, the key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Tracking programmatic deliverables from a portfolio of non-nuclear components.

  • Reviewing and summarizing production reports for B61-12 management.

  • Integrating with Product Realization Teams (PRTs) and associated Management and Operating (M&O) organizations to identify emerging technical/production challenges.

  • Helping to influence outcomes to meet program objectives of scope, schedule, and cost

  • Analyzing technical plans and/or production plans to ensure alignment with program objectives

  • Analyzing technically complex issues for FPM and Federal lead on

  • Applying common problem-solving techniques to technical challenges; proactive identification of potential issues impacting production/delivery schedules and reporting such to the B61-12 Federal Lead Engineer; and

  • Traveling to multiple NNSA Design and Production Agencies (e.g., Sandia National Laboratories New Mexico, Kansas City National Security Campus) to work with managers and engineers.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science, or other topic with relevant work experience.

  • Active DOD TS or DOE Q clearance.

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a production environment.

  • Previous experience with DOE Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) production activities or relevant experience with DOD weapon systems production.

  • Manufacturing and production floor experience in NNSA, DOD, government or corporate environments required.

  • NNSA/DOD Interagency experience.

  • Managing interdisciplinary teams.

  • Knowledge of program and project management/scheduling tools and techniques.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated experience in writing and editing briefings for senior and executive managers.

  • Ability to travel 10-15%/year.
