Eaton’s Power Components Division is currently seeking a Quality Manager to join our team. This position is based at our Las Piedras facility.

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Deploy the Strategic Quality Plan at the operational level in conjunction with the Division Quality Assurance Director and provide overall quality leadership to the organization. Drive the continuous improvement efforts throughout the operation in support of Total Quality Leadership and the Eaton Business System. Provide support in Total Quality Leadership to customers, suppliers, partners and the support service functions of the organization. This position also manages the Quality Assurance strategy of the organization to facilitate continuous production of products consistent with established industry standards, regulatory agencies and customer requirements. This position’s primary function is tactical in nature.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    1. Develop and implement a Quality organizational structure capable of supporting the strategic initiatives of the division and lead the efforts to integrate quality needs into the development of short and long range strategic business plans for the operation.
    2. Provide Quality interface and expertise between the operation and its customers to proactively identify or anticipate their needs and expectations and ensure they are understood and satisfied. This includes the complaint management system and the corrective / preventive action process related to customer issues – with feedback to the division – and the coordination of customer visits and audits.
    3. Provide support to the Supply Chain Management organization relative to the Supplier Quality Assurance activities of the operation as well as provide Quality interface, expertise and support to the organization’s suppliers and partners. This includes the feedback of supplier performance to suppliers and the division.
    4. Provide expertise in Quality Assurance and process improvement tools and methods to the other functions of the organization to support them in their continuous improvement activities.
    5. Participate as an equal member of the leadership team in the advancement of the organization in Operational Assessment.
    6. Study, investigate and recommend new or leading-edge technologies, methods, tools and procedures on the fields of quality assurance and continuous improvement to proactively address changes in the business environment.
    7. Lead the initiatives of the operation in the development, implementation and improvement of the appropriate Eaton Quality Management Systems throughout the organization, with all the documentation required. This includes providing advanced quality planning support in the development and launch of new products, processes and services.
    8. Lead the internal Quality System Audit program for the organization and manage the corrective action system in conjunction with the management review process.
    9. Analyze key organizational quality metrics related to the Balanced Scorecard and perform periodical reviews to evaluate results and establish action plans to close the gaps at an operational level.
    10. Develop and analyze statistical data and product / process specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability requirements for the finished product.
    11. Manage the performance and provide career development opportunities to all the employees within the quality function of the organization.
    12. Design and implement quality assurance training programs for key personnel in conjunction with other managers of the organization.
    13. Conduct and / or coordinate training in quality-related topics throughout the organization, when appropriate.
    14. Manage the budget of the Quality organization.
    15. Responsible to learn, understand and show commitment to the Eaton Safety Process (ESP) complying with all the goals and objectives established in the annual ESP Goals Matrix by Title-Function.
    16. Other functions as assigned.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE

Education: Bachelor’s in science of Engineering.

Experience:

  • Five years of experience minimum as Manager in manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, product engineering or quality assurance.
  • Two years of experience minimum in quality engineering.
  • A demonstrated knowledge of quality assurance and continuous improvement methods, approaches and tools, including strategic planning and project management.
  • Preferred Training: Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Eaton Business Excellence Criteria, Project Management, Quality Management System standards (i.e. ISO 9000 - 2015, QS 9000 ) Interpersonal Communications and Leadership Skills Development.

Recommended Credentials:

  • ASQ Certified Quality Manager – CQM
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer – CQE
  • ASQ Certified Quality Auditor - CQA

  • This position requires leadership, communication, training, facilitation and interpersonal skills well developed to effectively perform its essential functions.
  • This position requires up to 25% of travel domestically and internationally.
