As an integral part of the Disease Area (DA) leadership team, this is an opportunity to join in this mission and change lives.<br><br>At NIBR Oncology, our people, and our patients, are our passion.<br><br>YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:<br>This role is an integral part of DA leadership team to enhance the curious, inspired, unbossed and integrous culture of oncology; build and realize a future-oriented vision for the oncology portfolio; drive strategic decision-making through the Oncology Decision Board (DB) and Strategic Working Groups; and ensure that Oncology resources are applied in line with strategic priorities. <br><br><br>MAJOR ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:<br>PORTFOLIO STRATEGY<br><br>- Drive strategic planning and strategy implementation (including enabling strategy through budget management, headcount and other relevant business operations) with Core Oncology Leadership Team (OLT). This includes helping drive development and execution of the 3-5 year oncology strategy including assessing impact on headcount planning and budget that enables innovative pipeline impact and delivery of transformative medicines to patients.<br><br>- Collaborate with OLT to organize and implement inclusive portfolio governance and decision-making including research pipeline reviews (conducted twice annually), Scientific Advisory Board reviews (SAB conducted annually) and scientific advice at Strategic Working Groups.<br><br>- Represent Oncology in standing and ad hoc interactions with NIBR Strategy team while also incorporating evolving NIBR strategy into strategic and practical direction for Oncology.<br><br>- In partnership with OLT and Business Development & Licensing (BD&L), build an external oncology strategy focused on key assets and technology platforms to complete the overall near-term and long-term strategy, supporting initial evaluations of incoming opportunities, and ensuring stage-appropriate decision-making of external activities in alignment with the DA strategy and deliverables. <br><br>- Collaborate with DA head, People & Organization (P&O) Partner and OLT in ensuring organizational structure and capability mix globally meets the strategic priorities for oncology near-term and long-term. This includes executing on key areas of scientific investment and growth for oncology identified by the DA Head and OLT and working with DA head and P&O Partner in implementing organizational structures and resource strategies to support such efforts.<br><br>- Lead and support integration of any incoming assets and organizations<br><br>- Provide insightful analyses and recommendations to support NIBR Oncology’s strategic directions.<br><br>- Track performance against Oncology goals and ensure transparency of key initiatives.<br><br>- Act as key strategic thought partner for the NIBR OLT.<br><br>- Proactively highlight issues and challenges to the Global Head of Oncology.<br><br>- Represent Oncology when Oncology Head is not present at cross-NIBR governance meetings, pivotal initiatives, and project or portfolio reviews.<br><br>- Partner closely with the Translational Clinical Oncology (TCO) and exploratory Immuno Oncology (eIO) Strategy Leads to ensure an aligned and coordinated overall NIBR Oncology strategy<br><br><br>CULTURE<br>- Represent forward-looking view of Oncology at the Core OLT and contribute to Oncology culture, science, and intra-Oncology connectivity through the extended OLT.<br><br>- In collaboration with the OLT, advance the departmental culture of learning to improve scientific and drug hunting expertise among Oncology associates at all levels.<br><br>- Assist DA Head at NIBR-level meetings or on special projects.<br><br><br>OPERATIONS<br>- Accountable for leading all aspects of the management of budget within reasonable variance from targets and for strategic feedback, insight and operational focus to the oncology portfolio, projects and in-licensing opportunities.<br><br>- Lead a broad effort to assess internal and external capabilities and resources required in the next 3-5 years to meet the oncology strategy and goals long-term in partnership with the P&O Team. <br><br>- Support to prediction and delivery on landmark transitions for pipeline projects.<br><br>- Represent Oncology ad hoc interactions with Oncology DB members to solve problems and implement needed changes to ensure the success of DA projects including development of project team structures, program governance processes and other operational initiatives.<br><br>- Enable cross-oncology communications by owning the success of multiple modes of interaction, including all-oncology meetings, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint <br><br>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FIxJdzIn0mE<br><br>Vaccine Policy: While Novartis does not require vaccination at this time, for certain Novartis sites in the US all associates and candidates may be required to either upload an image of their COVID-19 vaccine card demonstrating proof of full vaccination for COVID-19 (or other similar evidence of vaccination) or proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken by the associate or candidate within the past seven days to enter any of our sites and/or customer office or healthcare facility, as well as prior to participating in other work related off-site meetings.
