Position: Mechanic, Inspection and Packaging Operations

Location: Manati, PR

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs and documents preventive/predictive and corrective maintenance work orders according to schedule using current procedures for documentation in order to comply with cGMP’s. Performs Equipment Conditioned Based Monitoring, monitors critical process parameters and utilizes predictive technologies to proactively take the necessary action to prevent process deviation and/or product losses. Interacts with computer-controlled equipment and processes. Complies with federal and local regulatory agencies (e.g., OSHA, EPA, FDA, DEA, etc). Works and operates hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and accessories necessary to do general maintenance in an industrial manufacturing environment. Keeps OSD, Inspection and Packaging equipment spare parts system up to date. Supports the OSD, Inspection and Packaging technicians in the diagnostic troubleshooting of abnormal equipment operation. Develops the maintenance plan (proactive, predictive, preventive, etc.) for existing and new operations equipment. Recommends equipment upgrades to increase productivity in existing equipment and Ensures equipment downtime is kept at a minimum level. Assists in the FMEAs, RCAs (root cause analysis) and validation of equipment, as required. Attends to all mandatory training meetings for cGMP’s, EHS and Company Policies. Revise, improve and develop new Job Plans based on observations, experience and technical data. Complete work orders documentation legible, error free and on time following good documentation practices

KNOWLEDGE/ EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

Associate Degree in Mechanical, Instrumentation, Electronics, Electricity or a Technical Degree in Instrumentation, Electronic, Electricity or Mechanic. Five (5) years in a manufacturing pharmaceutical environment. Basic writing skills when completing area documentation. Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and provide resolutions using the appropriate problem-solving methodology. Basic knowledge on Computerized, PLC control equipment, procedures and new scientific processes and how to troubleshoot them. Ability to work with minimum supervision. Ability to provide job training, theoretical and or On the Job, for new employees following the Operations Department Qualification Curriculum. Knowledge of all critical process parameters and their impact in product quality. Understanding of Process Equipment set-up and able to perform it repeatedly and according to SOPs. Ability to apply critical thinking to resolve complex issues. Excellent leadership characteristics, accountability and commitment. Ability to read, write, comprehend detailed technical information and directions. Team player and collaborating skills. Knowledgeable in cGMP’s, process area, documentation, safety, EHS and hygiene practices. Functional and basic technical knowledge of complex and automated equipment (computer, or PLC control) for set-up, operation and troubleshoot using the interface systems. Skill in performing detailed tasks and documenting information. Ability to enter data into a computer and perform complex process transactions. Ability to read procedures and documents in English/Spanish Text (e.g., SOPs, Batch Records, etc.) Skill in basic mathematical applications.

CONCENTRATION AND VISUAL EFFORT

Capable to read electrical/mechanical drawings and specifications. Strong analytical and mathematical skills. Knowledge of Company standards, regulatory requirement and validations.

INITIATIVE AND INGENUITY:

Capable to interact with external vendors/customers. Capable to plan work schedules and set priorities with a sense of urgency and meet deadlines. Strong organizational skills. Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Connect cables and plugs. Insert shims and bearings. Open parts, motors, machinery, equipment and controls. Remove bearings and parts. Use keyboard on computer or terminal to enter data and requisition parts. Heavy work (25-60 pounds) that requires eye hand coordination and moving about capacity. Requires movements of objects such as lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling. It involves body movements such as handling and fingering. Willing to work irregular hours, rotative shifts, weekends and holidays when necessary.

RESPONSIBILITY:

Capable to identify and resolve mechanical and/or electrical problems. Describe the most important working relationships of this position. Comment on the frequency, level, and the purpose of contacts necessary for effective performance. Ability to work under pressure and within a team environment.

EQUIPMENT OR PROCESSES: Responsible for supporting operations, resolving/troubleshooting equipment and facilities malfunctions in a timely manner and take preventive measures to assure proper functioning of operational equipment. Perform root cause analysis and implement/execute corrective actions. Available to support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the maintenance and support activities for the Manufacturing Operations. MATERIAL OR PRODUCT: Capable to understand the MSDS for the products or material used during process. SAFETY OF OTHERS: Able to have quick response in order to handle emergencies. The employee must follow safety rules of the area all the time.
