Job Description

Our Manufacturing Operations teams are the people that make our products. We work in the manufacturing plants with a “Safety First, Quality Always” mindset striving for continuous improvement. We work in the local plant connected to our global manufacturing network to ensure the highest quality of raw materials, intermediates and finished products.

Our Manufacturing Site in De Soto, Kansas, located near Kansas City metropolitan area is expanding operations to manufacturing vaccines and biologics for large and companion animals. Leveraging an experienced and innovative team environment, the key technologies at the site are biologics production using fermentation and cell culture platforms, filling and packaging.

We are hiring Technicians within multiple products and processes including but not limited to: Antigen Production, Cell Culture, Downstream Processing, Fermentation, Packaging Operations, Single-use Bioreactor Processing, and Sterile Filling. The hiring team will evaluate your skills to determine where you can make the greatest positive impact as a Technician. Whether you have a diploma, degree, or in between, we will likely have something that fits you.

Our current openings are for the following shifts:

  • Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM -3:30 PM

  • Monday – Friday, 10:30 AM - 7:00 PM

  • Thursday -- Sunday, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM (4x 10 hour)

  • Friday -- Monday, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM (4x 10 hour)

There are several technician positions available at our company's Animal Health facility in De Soto, Kansas, located near Kansas City metropolitan area. The DeSoto facility is expanding operations to manufacturing vaccines and biologics for large and companion animals. Leveraging a knowledgeable and innovative team environment, the key technologies at the site are biologics production using fermentation and cell culture platforms, filling, and packaging.

The De Soto facility is part of our company's Animal Health Manufacturing Division network and is a key contributor to the manufacturing of animal health products.

Key Responsibilities

Downstream Processing Department (DSP)

  • Production and processing of numerous large scale bacterial antigens

  • Room and processing equipment preparation, setup, and sterilization, antigen processing, antigen dispensing, equipment breakdown, and room cleaning and disinfecting

Fermentation Department

  • Large scale manufacture of Clostridial antigens as well as new products coming into the department

  • Fermentation activities from break out to large scale fermentation, and clean, setup, and operation of vessels and equipment

Batching Department

  • accountable for the large scale manufacture of Equine, Bovine and Swine vaccines produced at the site in accordance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).

  • Primary activities include equipment and vessel preparation and sterilization, staging and blending of antigens and adjuvents that constitute a vaccine blend and sampling procedures for serial batches.

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Associates degree, equivalent, or higher in a Science or Engineering related discipline

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 3 years applicable work or military experience

Required Experience and Skills:

  • The position requires someone who can demonstrate excellent attention to detail and achieve a consistent error-free execution of daily job assignments, be able to complete documentation using Good Documentation Practices and be able to identify opportunities for process improvement and employ basic problem-solving skills.

Proficient oral and written communication skills.

  • Able to follow/comply with Manufacturing Directions, Standard Operating Procedures, Company/Corporate/Regulatory Policies.

  • Can demonstrate basic skills in effective time management to meet given deadlines.

  • Can demonstrate ability to perform basic laboratory procedures.

  • Ability to work effectively with team members and show initiative to assist others on the team when needed.

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Immunology or similar.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience using large scale filtration and separation techniques.

  • Knowledge of aseptic processes used in manufacturing.

  • Experience using quality improvement tools and continuous improvement processes and site quality metrics.
