We are looking for a strong background in Transportation operations.


Summary

The Operations Manager will direct the daily activities of the Fleet Managers and Assistant Fleet Managers for the region.

This position will direct fleet operations and processes for the region on multiple shifts. This includes managing and utilizing assets and fleet personnel to control costs and maximize delivery performance. This position will be responsible for the overall planned activities, methods, and controls to meet quality, price, and safety standards and investigate and resolve scheduling and performance problems internally and externally for the region.

The Operations Manager will be responsible to, develop, implement and driving improvements and modifications of systems, processes, methods, resource utilization, etc., and ensure driver concerns are reviewed and addressed timely for the region. This position will interact with the leadership team and staff of other departments within the Company and outside representatives, including customers and carriers.


Responsibilities

Direct and manage the activities of operations staff to ensure consistency and balance of resources for performance. Collaborate with customer service, shipping, and brokerage teams to plan various delivery methods based on volume and capacity levels.

Responsible for all daily operations at the site.

Monitor, evaluate, and implement driver capacity at all locations ensuring that the driver count supports the workload. Review all lanes regularly to optimize inbound and outbound deliveries.

Collaborate cross-functionally with Ashley Distribution (ADS) and Ashley Furniture (AFI) management to ensure process improvement measures are reviewed, developed, and implemented.

Evaluate, provide recommendations, and implement future delivery requirements through Continuous quality improvement (CQI) and statistical methods.

Review, evaluate, recommend, and implement changes in transportation management systems through collaboration with IT and ADS personnel.

Manage and oversee to ensure proper documentation related to a driver, vendor/customer performance.

Assist Operations management with creating the annual budget based on the strategic growth initiatives; monitor departmental performance and take action when necessary to ensure budgetary goals are met.

Make employment decisions and recommendations on hiring, improvement plans, transfers, promotions, corrective actions, terminations, pay adjustments, etc. 9. Coordinate and manage employees’ work by directing team members to meet the area’s goals. Audit regularly to ensure standard operating procedures are being adhered to.

Manage employee performance and assist employees in making improvements to their performance through coaching, mentoring, and administering performance reviews. Recommend, plan and implement employee training and skill development activities.

Audit, maintain and ensure employee time-keeping and absentee records are accurate.

Communicate company and departmental issues and goals and facilitate employee growth and development through weekly team meetings, individual employee meetings, coaching, training, and company-offered learning opportunities.

Manage resources to optimize equipment, facilities, employees, methods, and materials.
