Bristol-Myers Squibb is looking to fill the role of Director, Strategic Sourcing & Procurement, Cell Therapy Operations supporting the Manufacturing Organization (Global Product Supply). This position will report into the Senior Director, Global Internal Manufacturing Operations. BMS is looking for a proven leader who will be responsible for leading, coordinating, and supporting activities within the realm of Operational Procurement (Direct Mat’l, Indirect Products and Services and Capital/Engineering categories) supporting Cell Therapy and the Product Development organization.

This individual will support business strategies and activities while keeping focus on the daily run-the-business aspects for site based procurement teams in 4-6 manufacturing/clinical operations facilities globally. The successful individual will need to drive effective collaboration with site management teams, SS&P stakeholders & category managers, external supplier network and enabling functions e.g., Legal, Finance, Quality, Global Process Owners, and other important cross-functional teams.

Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Make decisions and set priorities (for self and teams) through an enterprise lens. Lead and participate in organizational cross-functional development such as process enhancement, capabilities development, change management & site team support and effectiveness.

  • Design & implement operational direction for procurement efforts and execute Processes (tactical and/or strategic) across the sites as well as contractual support and legal liaison for strategic agreements and executions.

  • Work with Manufacturing Site leadership in the establishment, communication, and implementation of SMART business goals and objectives for the entire team, at all levels.

  • Support all areas of engagement within Global Manufacturing that require procurement support; Product Development, Cell-Therapy, and Internal Manufacturing (Bio & Pharma)

  • Act as the primary liaison with the site procurement teams to manage BMS expectations by disciplined tracking of scope and delivery against objectives/metrics including but not limited to Supply/Risk Management, Financial/Budgetary Management/Performance, Quality, Regulatory, Safety and Environmental compliance as well as sustained supply.

  • Engage closely with Global Capital/Engineering team and monitor major projects and executions.

  • Support annual budget & projection processes for relevant site operations - working closely with category leaders, site procurement teams and GP finance with “right first time” expectations.

  • Support compliance & governance with all Strategic Sourcing & Procurement policies and procedures across the relevant sites.

  • Identify and escalate business-critical issues effecting procurement operation/management to BMS senior management with recommendations around potential solutions.

  • Strong focus on cost savings & synergy activities. This will include cost reduction & avoidance, value-beyond savings, total-cost-of-ownership activities and a long/medium- and short-term plan for execution.

  • Lead a robust “People Strategy” Program for relevant sites and support the overall SS&P activities that impact talent development & engagement.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • B.S./B.A. or equivalent degree is required preferably in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or Life Sciences

  • Minimum of 10 years of multi-disciplined procurement experience or of relevant experience preferably in Pharmaceutical or Life Sciences industries (or other regulated industries)

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a leader of cross-functional teams and/or managing staff

  • Must have a proactive, creative, and analytic approach to continuous improvement in delivering procurement services and identifying new opportunities and total value capture

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of contractual landscape, financial consolidation & report outs as well as Quality/Supply issue identification, mitigation, and execution

  • Proficient in internal customer relationship management, category management, continuous improvement, project management, and supplier performance management

  • Procurement process/methodology knowledge & experience in agreement management, financial analysis, market analysis, supplier analysis, supplier diversity, technology utilization & strategic planning

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior extensive multi-year cGMP experience in Healthcare, Biopharmaceuticals, Pharmaceuticals, and/or Medical Device industry is highly preferred

  • Relevant certifications and industrial trainings preferred
