Job Description

Our Employees Federal Credit Union is a growing $2.5B credit union located in Rahway New Jersey. MEFCU is one of the country’s top-rated financial institutions for safety and soundness and value returned to its members.

Currently, we are seeking a Retail Operations Specialist to serve as a cross-functional employee transitioning between member service, teller and retail branch responsibilities. This includes the following:

  • IRA account administration, including opening, closing, settling funds of estates upon death, and working with the credit union’s third-party administer (Ascensus) for IRA account maintenance and monitoring.

  • Decedent account settlement, including advising members on required settlement procedures by state of residency, working with the member’s estate and/or beneficiaries to facilitate settlement. Interacting with the Credit Union’s outside counsel on estate matters

  • Loan product and service assistance for members in-branch and remotely, including loan application assistance, product advisement, and loan account maintenance, as well as working with the credit union’s third-party loan processors and servicers.

  • Open and close membership accounts and perform all necessary compliance checks, including Office of Foreign Assets and Control, Customer Transaction Reports, and Suspicious Activity Reports. Position requires regular training and execution of all Bank Secrecy Act requirements.

  • Perform the cash control branch operating procedures, including opening/closing vault, ordering cash, balancing the ATMs.

  • Perform all basic teller functions, including processing transactions such as withdrawals, check requests, deposits, etc.

  • Ability to facilitate the credit union’s heavily used remote services, including processing wires, Remote Deposit Capture, Account Maintenance, etc.

  • Support the credit union’s member service channels, including LiveChat, Silvercloud member support, Relationship Manager, as well as the Member Service Phone Line.

  • Ability to service Plastic Card accounts, including activating and deactivating debit and credit cards, ordering new cards, applying travel alerts and other risk mitigation tools to protect plastic cards.

Candidates should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be detailed oriented and understand the importance of flexibility in the branch environment. Enterprise risk management and professionalism are crucial to success in this role.


  • Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing.

  • Advanced computer skills using MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point etc.) and operation of other peripheral devices.

  • Extraordinary attention to detail.

  • Proactive, flexible, willing to adapt, and excellent interpersonal skills.

  • The ability to effectively organize work to support key processes and goals.

Education & Experience:

  • Required: High School Diploma

  • Required: Minimum of 8 years financial services experience

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree or advanced education or certification
