Job Description

Our Sourcing team partner with the business to ensure efficient acquisition of goods and services that enables the commercialization of our medicines, vaccines and Animal Health products. We collaborate internationally and are grouped into center-led categories and regional operating teams.

Position Description:

Provide Engineering and project support to Facilities, Maintenance &/or Utilities for Rahway, New Jersey pharmaceutical research campus and future headquarters. Provide regional assist to other North American sites, occasionally or as required.

Day-to-day engineering support for assigned area(s) may include design and technical input to various projects, mechanical support to utilities including power, Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC), steam and/or maintenance engineering for various site facilities including development center, pilot plant manufacturing, office and lab facilities.

Assigned tasks may include support and monitoring of equipment performance and maintenance reliability, propose & develop facility and infrastructure improvements, as well as troubleshooting to ensure compliant, reliable and efficient operations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Interfaces with internal clients in lab, office and/or manufacturing operations to develop shared support goals and ensure service level agreements met.

  • Interacts with hourly, salaried and contract employees in routine matters, troubleshooting and project support.

  • Authors Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and other technical documentation.

  • Monitors maintenance metrics and other KPI to understand performance and improvement opportunities.

  • Perform root cause analysis on equipment or systems failures and develop strategies to prevent recurrence.

  • Assists in training development for mechanics and supervisors.

  • Supports and contributes to maintenance scheduling and planning processes in assigned area.

  • Responsible for change control (management of change) for assigned systems and/or areas.

  • Provide technical input to building and site Master Plans based on risked based life cycle analysis.

  • Ensures compliance requirements, e.g. Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), safety, environmental, and operating cost goals are achieved.

  • Supports culture change toward safety goal of Target Zero, as well as ongoing reinforcement of Safe by Choice principles and behaviors.

Position Qualifications:

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Chemical) OR equivalent work experience

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience or equivalent in relevant area

  • Proficient in the following competencies: empowering leadership, flexibility, motivation, teamwork/collaboration, problem-solving, and communication, and computer skills

  • Competency with basic business software (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret schematics and layouts

  • Knowledge of equipment submittals, commissioning processes, and IQ, OQ, and PQ validation methods.

  • Knowledge in the application of engineering standards such as American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Code of Federal Regulations (CFR 1910), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and/or American National Standards Institute (ANSI)

Expected salary range:

$80,320.00 - $126,500.00
