Position: Associate Director, Reimbursement Operations

Location: Field US- Remote

The Immunology Associate Director Reimbursement Operations (ADRO) is a field-based training role responsible for leading the development, deployment, and measurement of training and strategic operational initiatives for the Access Reimbursement team. The position is accountable for supporting the operational excellence of existing programs in partnership with program management team, the field leadership team and other cross functional partners.. The ADRO will incorporate a patient-centric approach in their commitment to train the PASS organization to create awareness of patient access programs for BMS.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will possess and further develop the knowledge and skills to:

  • Oversee and support strategic field operation initiatives across the immunology ARM team
  • Join regional and national iARM team calls and conduct field ride observations (with new hires and existing ARMs) to validate capability and gain field intelligence and insights to help discover additional operational needs of the team
  • Analyze nationwide operational needs of the iARM team to further evolve field force effectiveness, develop relevant and engaging solutions, deliver action-oriented training using adult learning principles, and measure the impact on the business
  • Use data and analytical dashboards to identify customer, access, and program performance trends that could be improved through training
  • Create templates and impactful slide decks for business reviews, internal and field education, and other above-brand resources (in collaboration with Program Managers) to support the field team and leadership
  • Review and evaluate operational expenses to optimize training, conference, and congress budgets
  • Support Health Equity initiatives on behalf of PASS to provide equal opportunity for every patient to benefit from BMS access and affordability programs

  • Sets specific and measurable project or team objectives for training and operations initiatives in cooperation with leadership
  • Develops field launch execution and account planning (as part of launch master planning) in collaboration with PASS leadership, Program Managers, and Learning & Development (L&D)
  • Leverages past launch experience to coach, develop, and support team members in launch of new products or indications
  • Continuously updates team with new knowledge of business operations, field execution priorities, and marketplace trends for access and affordability programs

Communication and Education

  • Communicates knowledge and skill gaps of ARM field team to partners to inform learning strategies, tactics, and coaching initiatives
  • Models and fosters clear, tailored, consistent, and concise communication (across all methods and platforms) to drive action throughout the PASS organization
  • Delivers presentations that influence senior leaders’ decision making related to developing the PASS team
  • Models strong emotional intelligence (EI) in sensitive situations (e.g., navigating group dynamics, providing sensitive feedback, or coaching for improvement)
  • Clearly articulates rationale for decisions and recommendations
  • Listens closely for key messages when others speak, asks probing exploratory questions, and summarizes back what was heard to confirm understanding
  • Manages and provides feedback on ARM Toolbox content to keep ARM teams current with reference information, resources, and communications

Business and Industry Acumen

  • Anticipates potential marketplace trends that could impact program performance at the regional or national level, and recommends knowledge and skills development for ARM team as needed
  • Demonstrates deep understanding of the PASS team purpose and objectives, and regulatory and policy dynamics, by identifying, applying, and training others on best practices
  • Uses customer (e.g., patients, HCP offices, payers) perspectives and motivations to ensure PASS team knowledge and skill development is well-rounded and targeted

Operations & Analytics

  • Coordinates nationwide ARM goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across brands to foster identity, efficiencies, and culture
  • Works with internal and external business partners to systematically assess performance of support services to prioritize educational or operational initiatives
  • Leads the development, implementation, and maintenance of program standards for data analytics and reporting—in collaboration with matrix team members and external business partners
  • Generates ideas, insights, and innovations from a wide spectrum of internal and external sources; and shares them with internal and external teams to position PASS as a valued partner
  • Leads policy updates, program process changes, and the use of above brand tools

Compliance

  • Stays up to date and compliant with BMS compliance policy guidance, rules of engagement, and business rules in general, and specific to relevant disease states
  • Collaborates with L&D to ensure the PASS team is up to date on required training
  • Models and coaches peers on best practices for compliance

Organizational Navigation

  • Models and fosters matrix team effectiveness by sharing information, knowledge, experience, and best practices for ways of working
  • Liaises between field and headquarter teams to troubleshoot operational issues and streamline workflows
  • Anticipates and acts on opportunities for improvement in processes, ways of working, team dynamics, customer engagement, etc.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Encourages teams to place a strong emphasis on cross-matrix collaboration with internal team to collaboratively assess performance of support services and prioritize initiatives for improvements
  • Leads teams, without authority, in a clear and impactful way
  • Proactively coaches and mentors regional and national peers to improve their PASS-related knowledge, skill, and operational efficiency

Strategic Vision & Culture

  • Creates and regularly articulates a motivating vision for the approach to training and educating customers, aligned with the objectives and vision of PASS and the broader organization
  • Shapes and enhances culture by demonstrating and living the BMS Values in day-to-day tasks and interactions both regionally and nationally

Preferred, Prior Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required; MBA preferred
  • 10+ years in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Relevant experience and deep knowledge in patient access is required, including billing and coding; managed care coverage processes and practices; distribution and dispensing of specialty pharmaceuticals; buy and bill, and relevant aspects of patient support/hub services
  • Demonstrated customer-facing leadership experience and ability to create cross-functional relationships preferred
  • Prior experience in operations or field leadership preferred

The starting compensation for this job is a range from $141,000 - 178,000, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility). The starting pay takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and where the job is performed. Final, individual compensation is decided based on demonstrated experience.
