Bally Sports is looking for a Vice President of Technical Operations and Crewing to oversee all event technical operations and crewing for Bally Sports Regional Sports Networks and RSN national broadcasts. Manage remote production for approximately 5000+ live events, mobile units, transmission, technology crewing and logistics. Manage a strategic plan implementing XLT ProCrewz event management, mobile application and payroll system across all RSN business units. Oversee technical project management for various major projects including Music playback database, as well as File-Sharing and MAM systems.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Manage and direct regional operations personnel on operations issues as they relate to live event broadcasts. Including transmission, technical equipment, crewing, mobile unit vendors, league issues, health and safety and new technology. Conduct weekly calls with regional operations group including crew supervisors. Individual follow up required on a regular basis.
  • Oversee and implement use of ProCrewz mobile application and client portal across all RSNs. Input and manage database for all above the line and below the line personnel for all RSN Events.
  • Oversee and manage music database and cue sheet workflow. This includes negotiation and purchase of music playback devices, sharing of licensed music available to RSN’s, central database workflow, and custom software applications facilitating a smooth and efficient process for music use.
  • Negotiate and manage all vendor and crewing contracts with outside crewing vendors for all RSN networks.
  • Work with Labor Relations on all union contracts for all RSN networks. Manage input and interpretation of union CBA agreements into ProwCrewz database.
  • Manage relationships with all Mobile Unit Vendors for all RSN events. Research and implement new technologies, truck contracts, maintenance schedules for all RSNs.
  • Direct Houston TOC personnel on policy and procedure for loss of signal during live event broadcasts. First point of contact in the event of signal loss during any FSN live event. Coordinate response in conjunction with TOC personnel. Inform senior management and provide detailed follow up to incidents.
  • Maintain up to date surveys and technical drawings for all collegiate and pro venues in North America. Maintain up to date information on all mobile television trucks used by BSN.
  • Work with regional operations directors and crewing managers to create consistent infrastructure. Maintain accurate and consistent equipment documentation for all RSNs.
  • Work with IT/Finance/Human Resources and Labor Relations to communicate, advise, direct and implement policies with regional production and operations personnel.
  • Search out, review and recommend new technical procedures and technology related to the broadcasting of live events. Work with other national and regional field operations for sharing of equipment and technical information. Travel to remote production sites and Atlanta Operations Center from time to time for review of policies and procedures and to get on site feedback.
  • Manage file-sharing project more efficiently sharing “melt” content via centralized MAM resource accessible for all RSN’s. Negotiate with MAM vendors, test POC’s and build detailed file-based workflows.

Bachelor’s Degree in business, communications or related recommended. A minimum of 10 years in remote operations for live sports events. Overall understanding of television production/technical operations and crewing including both studio and remote. Ability to multi-task and work under daily time constraints in a high-pressure environment is essential.

The base salary compensation range for this role is $180,000 to $230,000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidates’ relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location.
