Responsibilities
Join the State Farm intern team to gain real-world experience in finance, financial planning & analysis, and business analytics through hands-on learning opportunities at a Fortune 50 company! Develop your professional talents and skills by completing challenging work assignments to generate and influence business results. Participate in events to learn more about the departments at State Farm, how an insurance company works, and how Financial Operations supports other departments in forming their strategy to achieve results. And, interact with Executive leadership through mentoring relationships.
Intern work topics in Accounting may include:
- Financial statement preparation and analysis
- Strategic reporting and financial forecasting
- Tax filings and planning
- Compensation and expense processing
- Financial controls
- Investment accounting
- Enterprise planning and budget analysis
- Cost benefit analysis
- Competitor and industry trend analysis
- Risk management/compliance
Duties and Responsibilities may include:
- Research and analysis of financial information
- Communication of financial information via reports and presentations
- Reviewing effectiveness and efficiency of financial, operational, risk management, and compliance control systems by completing audit assignments
- Interpretation of and compliance with external reporting requirements
- Compile, prepare and interpret forecasts, financial statements and reports
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum GPA of 3.5 out of 4.0 (overall and in major)
- Pursuing degree in Accounting
- Must be enrolled in school through the completion of the internship
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Written and verbal communication
- Teamwork
- Critical thinking and analytical problem solving
- Initiative and curious mindset
Internship Information:
- Location: Richardson, TX; Tempe, AZ; Dunwoody, GA; or Bloomington, IL
- Our internship will occur May 20, 2024 - August 2, 2024
- Competitive candidates will be invited to participate in online interviews during the fall of 2023
- Hourly Rate: $28.00/hour based on a 38.75-hour work week
- Hybrid work environment as internship requirements allow (in-office and work from home)
