Job Description

The Position

The Director, US Market Access Strategy and Operations Lead will report directly to the Head of Market Access (MA) and Account Management (AM) and will be responsible for serving as the lead executive for Planning and Communications, Compliance Stewardship, Strategic Market Insights and Contract Operations Organization. This is intended as a developmental role for candidates with the talent and ambition to advance into future leadership roles within US Market Access or other Commercial Leadership roles.

Responsibilities

  • MA & AM Planning & Communications

    • Lead the development of annual MA & AM strategic priorities (objectives).

    • Develop and manage “scorecard” to tract/report performance vs objectives.

    • Lead MA & AM Internal Communication Plan.

      • Leadership Team Staff Meetings (frequency/timing/agenda)

      • MA & AM Town Halls (frequency/timing/agenda)

      • MA & AM Live Meetings (theme/timing/agenda)

      • Misc event-driven communications and media (e-mail, video, pod cast, etc.)

  • Lead MA&AM Culture Team

    • Manage cadence of Culture Team meeting while creating a safe environment for transparent feedback.

    • Develop actionable recommendations to improve engagement and effectiveness of MA & AM organization.

  • Oversee partnership with commercial innovation team and differentiation of MA&AM customer experience.

  • Lead the MA & AM annual budget planning including, non-payroll and headcount financial forecasting in tandem with US Commercial Finance.

  • MA&AM Compliance Stewardship

    • Completing annual Federal Contractor application.

    • Monitor contract verification process

    • Inform the content for relevant training content and with BPC/L&D determine the cadence of MA.&.AM training requirements (brand and non-brand).

  • Strategic Market Insights

    • Identify and monitor market trends with the potential to impact the MA & AM commercial model and strategy.

    • Where appropriate, develop recommendations to evolve commercial model and/or strategy to address market events.

    • With DC office, assess key federal and state policy issues with the potential to impact the MA & AM commercial model and strategy.

  • Contract Operations Oversight

    • Oversee the execution and adjudication of all utilization-based and purchase-based contracts (e.g., Payer/PBMs, GPO/IDN, Specialty Pharmacy) for the full Organon portfolio.

    • Align with BU and MA & AM Leadership with regard to future Contract Operations capabilities to support the evolving needs of the portfolio.

    • Lead and develop a Team of Associate Directors and Contract Analysts.

    • Manage the relationship with Contract Operations outsourced partner.

Required Education, Experience and Skills

  • BA/BS

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Managed Care related field (ex., Contract Management, Customer Marketing, Managed Care Sales, Compliance, Legal, Payer Marketing, Pricing, Financial or Sales Analysis).

  • Pharmaceutical experience required.

  • Working knowledge of both utilization-based and purchase-based contracting.

  • Process-oriented with strong project management skills.

  • High compliance IQ.

  • Demonstrated business acumen (understanding broad business implications through experience working in Marketing, Sales and/or Managed Care business).

  • Strategic and tactical planning skills with a strong detail orientation and proactive mindset.

  • Managing without authority.

  • Less than 20% overnight travel.

Preferred Education

  • PharmD, JD, MBA or equivalent.
