Job Description

The Position

Reporting to the Supply Chain Operations Director - Europe, the Associate Director Supply Chain Operations – Mid-Europe is within his/ her territory (France, Belgium, Luxemburg and Switzerland) responsible for:

  • Enabling business value through efficient, timely, and compliant supply execution to customers. As such he/she is responsible for all warehousing, distribution, and logistics processes and activities, taking into consideration agreed service levels, as well as GxP and Organon Quality standards.
  • Oversight of the 3PL in-market warehousing & distribution operations, from an operational and financial perspective. As such he/she is responsible for the associated budget and (control of) expenditures.
  • Managing, leading and developing a team of Supply Chain Operations Specialists involved in supply execution and related service to Organon customers.
  • Leading the IBP processes on the cluster level. Managing, leading, and developing a team with different seniorities involved in demand planning and market distribution.
  • Serving as a first line SCO contact to Organon Commercial Organization (OCO) partners in the market. He/she collaborates with local, regional, and global stakeholders, such as Demand Fulfilment, Global/Regional logistics services, Finance, Quality, Regulatory and Environment, and Health & Safety.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Senior Specialists, Specialists, and/or Associate Specialists.
  • Responsible for objectives setting, planning, performance management and monitoring, professional development, training, coaching, and recruitment of employees. Maintaining a safe, secure, and compliant work environment and practices. Demonstrating behaviors in line with Organon’s cultural values.
  • Exercise effective oversight of all 3PL operations related to importation (if applicable), receipt, storage, transportation, and distribution of Organon products in (to) his/her territory. This can include promotional materials.
  • Provide leadership regarding the market-level Demand Planning and IBP processes. Ensuring adequate demand management at the market level by the DP team to enable a high-quality demand signal. Understanding key drivers behind market demand forecast such as major demand events and commercial strategies.
  • Ensure these operations are executed per GxP, Organon Quality standards, policies and procedures, and local regulations. Collaborating with In-Market Quality and Regulatory Affairs. Proactively identifying and reporting compliance risks and issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement for his/her team, with the 3PL partner and with other functions in SCM and with other Organon groups at the market level.
  • Accomplish financial objectives by financial forecasting; budget management and expenditure control and analyzing variances. Identifying financial risks deploying risk mitigation and corrective actions. Identifying cost-saving opportunities and driving action plans to accomplish these.
  • Ensure financial compliance and inventory control: e.g. SOX controls; inventory counting and reconciliation, destruction of product.
  • Act as key contact to the local Organon Commercial Organization (OCO) leadership team (LT) regarding SCM matters. Building and maintaining good relationships with functions in the local subsidiary, including Commercial, Finance, Regulatory, and Customer Service. Providing SCM expert advice and counsel to the LT and/or these functions to enable the success of the local Organon subsidiary at market level.

Required Education, Experience and Skills

  • Master of Science or equivalent required. An advanced degree in business, engineering, or scientific field (f.e. pharmacy).
  • At least 7 years of relevant work experience (e.g. in Supply Chain, Customer Service, Logistics, Quality), preferably in the pharmaceutical industry or consultancy.
  • Solid understanding of Distribution and Logistics systems and processes.
  • Experience with 3PL (Third Party Logistics) Management and Negotiation.
  • Thorough experience in IBP processes; comprehensive knowledge of Demand Planning processes.
  • Good understanding of working in a GxP environment.
  • People management capability and affinity are required; relevant experience is a plus.
  • Strong stakeholder management capabilities, teamwork and collaboration.
  • Proactive, taking initiative and speaking up regarding topics in and beyond my area.
  • Strategic and critical thinking and advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Continuous improvement mindset; solution-oriented and can-do mentality. Strong customer focus.
  • Business and Finance acumen: Understand and foresee impacts across the supply chain and functions/ divisions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and French.

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Acquainted with Lean/ Six Sigma and any other continuous improvement methodology.
  • Acquainted with SAP Hana or any other ERP system.
