National Online News Editor
The National Desk (TND) has an immediate opening for a National Online News Editor!
DUTIES:
- Edit creative videos for The National Desk digital and broadcast platforms
- Daily news aggregation from around the web and editing of wire service content
- Pitch video ideas daily based on topical news
- Ability to react to and post breaking news quickly and accurately is a core expectation of this position
- Research long-term video projects
- Monitor analytics to measure story performance
- Other editorial duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA/BS degree or equivalent (Degree in journalism or related field strongly preferred)
- Minimum of seven (7) years of news/broadcast/online video editing experience
- Excellent writing skills and knowledge of AP style required
- Strong understanding of content usage rights management and restrictions.
- Experience with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Reddit and other social media platforms
- Must be self-motivating and able to work well with a diverse group of people
- Must be able to handle stress, including short deadlines
- Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent organizational and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work under strict deadlines
- Expertise in non-linear editing and archiving platforms (AVID, Adobe, Final Cut)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to read and write (with or without corrective devices).
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to speak clearly (with or without corrective devices).
- Must be able to work overnights/nights/weekends
