Key’s Enterprise Internship is a 10.5-week program that provides meaningful work that matters, offers feedback and coaching, and creates engaging events and conversations that will spark excitement and interest in bringing one’s full-time career to Key post college. Interns are involved in a host of line of business specific projects that directly impact and benefit Key’s business and strategic pillars. The program includes networking with Key teammates across all levels of the organization, a series of Learning Labs where internal and external speakers provide insight on Key’s competitive landscape, financial wellness, and professional development best practices, and an assigned mentor who shares knowledge, experience, and advice. Real Estate Capital KeyBank Real Estate Capital (KBREC) is nationally recognized as a longstanding leader in Commercial Real Estate Finance and Loan Servicing. We offer an expansive array of solutions for borrowers seeking to acquire, refinance or develop commercial, health care, and multifamily properties. Additionally, we offer investment opportunities in the form of commercial real estate debt and equity capital. Our integrated team combines in-depth industry experience with reliable execution to help our clients achieve their goals. About the Real Estate Capital Internship Program KBREC will hire interns across many geographies, including but not limited to cities like Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, New York City and Seattle. Students will be placed into one of the following groups, which will be determined in the spring before the internship starts. Commercial Mortgage Group - The Commercial Mortgage Group (CMG), delivers capital solutions to our core internal Borrower client segments (Income Property, Institutional Capital Group, and Healthcare) and investment opportunities to our Investor base. Income Property Group - IPG is a national platform that provides project finance solutions for new development, acquisition/repositioning of existing assets, and the purchase/long-term hold of stable assets to regional and national private real estate owners. Institutional Real Estate - Institutional Real Estate Group (IRE) is comprised of Senior Bankers, Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers and Analysts and includes the Institutional, Healthcare, and Structured Real Estate Groups. These teams provide a full range of financial services to institutionally-sponsored real estate operating companies Healthcare - The Healthcare Group (HCG) is comprised of Senior Bankers, Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers and Analysts, and provides financing for medical offices, seniors housing and care facilities, and Healthcare REITs (Real Estate Investment Trusts) Community Development Lending - The CDLI team is focused on providing debt and equity capital for the development of affordable housing and other community commercial real estate reinvestment development projects that benefit low- and moderate-income neighborhoods. Agency Loan Servicing - The team provides support to the lending teams by managing all processes necessary to close and service the loan, ultimately through payoff. The group works closely with product partners and KBREC sales teams to streamline processes, provide a timely closing, efficient transition to loan servicing, and superior high-touch loan servicing. Job Responsibilities Researching economic conditions and market trends Developing strategic contact databases Neighborhood, industry, and prospective tenant research Field research and preparation of marketing materials Completing a Capstone Project leveraging learnings from the Internship Performing other duties as necessary to support the goals and objectives of the Real Estate Capital team Qualifications Pursuing a bachelor’s degree (must graduate by Summer 2025) Minimum 3.3 GPA (preferred) Relevant work or internship experience (preferred business/real estate focused majors or related majors) Demonstrated teamwork and leadership through extracurricular activities Compensation and Benefits This position is eligible to earn an hourly rate of $23 per hour. Compensation also includes a $2,000 Summer Internship Sign-on Bonus. KeyBank’s Campus Program Internship and Analyst positions are not eligible for employment visa sponsorship (e.g., H-1B visa). This includes, for example, situations where a candidate may have temporary work authorization while enrolled in school or upon graduation (e.g., CPT, OPT) but would need H-1B visa sponsorship within a few years of employment in order to maintain employment eligibility.
