About the Opportunity

The Supervisor, Food and Mail Services position oversees the daily operations of food and mail services throughout the FirstEnergy service territory. In addition, the position assumes responsibility for the proper application of established employee relations, labor agreements, company standards, government regulations and safety and health regulations, where applicable. Also, the supervisor is responsible for developing strategies that advance the overall goals of the food and mail services areas, while meeting department and company objectives.

Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing mail services across the organization, including interoffice and U.S. Postal Service mail as well as contracted courier(s); and supervise the mail services team and contractors
  • Overseeing a full-service café at the West Akron Campus, multiple contracted cafés, contracted marketplace operations, and other contracted food service-related items.
  • Ensuring all required state and local permits and licenses to conduct business, including but not limited to: state health department, Serve Safe, bulk mailing operations permits
  • Maintaining a high standard of food safety to meet all local and state health regulations
  • Ensuring that each team member is trained and uses their skills continually
  • Advanced planning and coordination of daily work activities of the food and mail areas
  • Decision making guided by policies, procedures, and business plan
  • Driving continuous improvement across the food and mail areas and FirstEnergy
  • Actively promoting FirstEnergy’s Leading with Safety, demonstrating a commitment to work in accordance with the Accident Prevention Handbook, safe work practices and rules.
  • Identifying and driving opportunities for improvement in the food and mail processes
  • Overseeing and understanding all Mail and Food Services service contracts
  • Working with team members in tracking and planning for contract needs
  • Maintaining partnerships with internal customers and seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction; anticipating customers’ needs and propose alternative solutions when necessary
  • Being an accessible resource and business partner to internal customers, understand their initiatives and develop and execute plans to support customer goals and company strategy
  • Developing relationships with key food and mail vendors and benchmarking peers and work with Food Services Lead to manage relationships
  • Engaging the team to provide resources to support storm restoration activities
  • Understanding and managing contracts while working under the guidance of Supply Chain
  • Encouraging open, honest, direct, and ongoing conversation across teams
  • Creating an environment of accountability and a sense of urgency for meeting agreed-upon expectations/deadlines
  • Overseeing the current performance metrics of Food and Mail Services. Developing metrics to further enhance the performance reporting of the business units.
  • Effectively working with all levels of employees in a professional manner, as well as with customers, contractors, and vendors
  • Making budget recommendations and operate within allocated budget
  • Successfully executing projects and responsibilities, as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain & Logistics, Food Services, or a related field and minimum 5 years related work experience is required.
  • OR associate degree and minimum 7 years related work experience is required. Related work experience includes supervising of Mail/Delivery operations, Logistics, and/or Food Services, and leading a multi-faceted department across multiple locations.
  • Minimum two years supervisory experience preferred
  • Effective oral/written communications and interpersonal skills
  • Able to read, interpret and understand financial data
  • Analytical skills for maintaining accurate and current records
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Understand rules and regulations of food safety
  • Aptitude in supervising employees and ability to understand and interpret labor agreements
  • Excellent customer relations skills to effectively partner and communicate with customers at all levels of the organization
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and the willingness and ability to travel throughout the FirstEnergy territory
