Job Description

The Senior Specialist, Marketing Communications Channels - Social Media is responsible for helping to develop, implement and maintain the global social media strategy for The Manuals. Specific goals are to use social media to promote awareness and use of these publications (both print and electronic), provide added value to existing users, and represent the publications to healthcare professionals and consumers in the online environment in the best and most professional manner. Person must ensure compliance with any regulatory requirements affecting use of social media. Person will develop social media content in conjunction with The Manuals’ editorial team, gain legal approvals when necessary, and serve as Community Manager for The Manuals’ social media accounts.

First published in 1899 as a small reference book for physicians and pharmacists, The Manual grew in size and scope to become one of the most widely used comprehensive medical resources for professionals and consumers. As the Manual evolved, it continually expanded the reach and depth of its offerings to reflect the mission of providing the best medical information of the day to a wide cross-section of users, including medical professionals and students, veterinarians and veterinary students, and consumers.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Curate and develop original social media content (from static images to social-friendly videos) based on market reports and trends.

Maintain social media accounts, posting regularly; either daily or every other day.

Monitor assigned social media pages for commentary and questions from community members, respond within a timely manner using predetermined responses or work with stakeholders to determine answer.

Manage editorial calendar, working with multiple stakeholders to determine content ideas for engagement and relevancy.

Responsible for social media measurement and reporting; stays abreast of internal and external regulations pertaining to social media, as well as new social media platforms and opportunities.

Stay on top of trends in social media, keep an eye out for key updates and changes to social media platforms.

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:

Design and creative skills: As a social media content developer for The Manuals you will need experience with photo and video editing software, preferably Adobe Creative Suite. Previous experience with digital and social media campaigns preferable.

Collaboration: Proven ability to work cross-functionally with various internal stakeholders and markets. A highly collaborative working style is required, with the ability to influence and lead change while building strong cross-functional partnerships.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

4 years of experience in a marketing/communications role

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Marketing Communications and/or Social Media
