The Director of Quality and Compliance is responsible for the development and administration of a quality program for the Senior Community Care (SCC) business organization within Optum Health’s Home & Community. This role will primarily focus on three SCC business lines: UnitedHealthcare Nursing Home Plan (I-SNP), UnitedHealthcare Assisted Living Plan (IE-SNP) and Senior Housing and Special Needs Plan Solutions.

The Director will serve as the subject matter expert on federal and state regulations and provide oversight for the development and adherence to governing policies. This role also serves as a liaison between the senior leadership within SSC to Optum Compliance, Optum Legal, UnitedHealthcare Medicare and Retirement and other external points of contact as appropriate.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop a quality program, primarily focused on licensed sales agents for Medicare health plans, to ensure applicable federal and state regulations are successfully implemented and monitored. Examples include new business development, clinical and network management
  • Develop a communication program to ensure external audiences (primarily skilled nursing and assisted living personnel) comply with regulations through ongoing education
  • Develop and implement formal annual training to supplement the tools provided and required training provided by UnitedHealthcare and/or via licensing requirements
  • Coordinate and monitor annual licensing, including renewals, for all SCC licensed personnel
  • Develop and administer ad hoc training, based on identified trends. Coordinate analysis through SCC senior leadership and other functional leaders
  • Serve as the subject matter expert relative to the application of Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ Medicare Communications and Marketing Guidelines and delivery of the institutional products
  • Develop and implement a formal audit function in conjunction with the Vice President of Operations & Quality, and make recommendations for remediation, communication and oversight for the Chief Growth Officer
  • Manage and coordinate all corrective action plans, including providing recommendations on remediation, duration and reporting. Corrective action plans including those specific to the overall product, specific markets, specific leaders and/or producers

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of work experience in Medicare Advantage, skilled nursing facility or assisted living facility
  • 5+ years of experience working in a government, legal, healthcare, managed care and/or health insurance environment in a regulatory, privacy or compliance role
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $113,500 to $218,100. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $113,500 to $218,100. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
