This position is in the IBM The Weather Company business (TWC) or a shared services function supporting TWC. On August 22 2023, a definitive agreement was signed, under which Francisco Partners, a leading global investment firm that specializes in partnering with technology businesses, will acquire The Weather Company assets from IBM. It is currently expected that as of February 1, 2024, this position will be in a new company that is separate from IBM. Through increased investment and resources from Francisco Partners, The Weather Company will look to move beyond forecasting alone and bring new tools and experiences to users to help them understand how weather impacts all aspects of their lives, starting with health and well-being. For businesses, The Weather Company plans to offer more actionable insights so organizations can provide greater value to their customers. Your Role and Responsibilities
The Weather Company is looking for a Head of Product Marketing to join our Marketing & Communications organization, reporting to the Head of B2B Marketing. At The Weather Company, we believe the Product Marketing team is the glue that binds our product strategy to the tactics that we need to drive success in sales and marketing and accelerate product revenue growth. The ideal candidate will lead a team of four (4), has extensive experience in adtech and/or enterprise marketing & sales, a proven track record of successfully developing and executing product marketing strategies, a deep understanding of the media, data and technology industry, and can translate our weather intelligence and media offerings into customer-first value propositions that differentiate our offering in market.

  • Lead macro-level positioning in terms of how The Weather Company is revolutionizing the digital marketing landscape, as well as more focused marketing of TWC’s product differentiation. Build product specific narratives and value propositions for existing/new enterprise data and media products, leveraging a deep understanding of capabilities, customer needs, and the competitive environment.
  • Partner with and influence leadership teams (Executive, Sales, Product) to assess and bring future enterprise data and media product opportunities to the table.
  • Develop plans and strategies with market data and evidence and use that knowledge to drive the development of positioning and messaging that resonates with buyers (direct and channel) and empowers our sellers and partners
  • Develop the overall strategy for the product marketing and research function in order to increase pipeline, close deals and market awareness across the entire portfolio (media, tech, data)
  • Bring market and competitive intelligence - be the expert on our customers profiles and personas, how they buy, and their key buying criteria. Understand the competitive landscape, be the expert on our competition, how they are positioned, and how we win
  • Enable sales teams with product training, GTM playbooks, battle cards, and collateral that help drive pipeline, acquiring new clients and deepening relationships with existing clients
  • Work with the larger marketing team to develop and activate product-oriented campaigns including thought leadership, content marketing, events marketing, and earned media.
  • Act as the primary thought leader in meetings, at events, etc. and manage a team of 3 product marketers and 1 research marketing role

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Strong experience with Product Marketing, Enterprise Marketing and/or Product Development in ad tech, digital media or enterprise industries
  • Proven experience with determining product-market fit, assessing competitive landscape and mastering the GTM strategy, including an affinity for sales enablement
  • Expert and skilled story-teller; crafts product/feature positioning statements and messaging systems based on target audiences and insights.
  • Ability to lead and communicate cross-functionally with sales, product management, leadership, data-science, PR, marketing and other departments
  • Demonstrated talent and appreciation for both qualitative and quantitative research and creating recommendations, strategies, and outputs based on that research
  • 5+ years of direct people management experience
  • Technical acumen, detail industry knowledge and solid understanding of the advertising technology landscape, with experience in an enterprise data company preferred
  • Excellent writing and creative presentation skill

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
