The Finance Organization

At Verizon, we are building a world-class Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) organization. We have begun a comprehensive program to streamline processes, improve systems, realign the organization and add opportunities for personal skill-building and professional growth. VCG HQ FP&A Planning team

The VCG HQ FP&A planning team is responsible for short and long range planning for the VCG organization, including outlooks, 5 year plans and budget. As part of the team, you are considered a business partner and your contributions make a difference. The role will offer opportunities to closely work with the rest of the VCG FP&A teams, while growing your leadership and interpersonal skills.

  • Prepare and review the financial plan, forecast, budget analysis in order to identify variances to actuals and OL, as well as additional analysis of possible opportunities in the plan. Prepare monthly analyses to be used in management reviews and strategic business analysis sessions.
  • Support the ongoing work with the business transformation team to align on gap closure initiatives and their impact to the impact to the plan.
  • Maintain and update target models, assist in ad-hoc analysis throughout the process, prepare materials to tell the story and provide leadership actionable insights. Proactively identify possible scenarios, risks and opportunities to business performance.
  • Develop and maintain planning templates related to expense consolidation.
  • Work with the manager to prepare executive materials - group reviews, budget and 5 year planning process, targets, outlooks, monthly updates on gap to plan.
  • Work with the partners across the finance organizations on system requirements, testing and consolidation efforts.. Identify source data parameters to support the system build.
  • Additional ad-hoc planning related work as needed.

This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally up to 25%.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or four or more years of work experience.
  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
  • Experience in the technology and/or telecommunications industry.
  • A professional certification (e.g. CPA, CMA).
  • Understanding of financial planning, reporting & analysis, and costing/profitability methodologies and processes.
  • Knowledge of common business and cost drivers, financial statement analysis, and deep-dive analysis.
  • Familiarity with the preparation of General Ledgers, Basic Knowledge of FASB requirements, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Proficiency in Essbase, Smart View, Hyperion Planning, and Hyperion Strategic Finance.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite with deep knowledge of Excel as well as Google suite of products.
