The company’s US Human Health Division has undergone significant transformation over the past few years, by building and enhancing our core commercial capabilities to be more adaptive and open to changing market needs and customers’ expectations. As a result, US Oncology has begun to develop, manage and incorporate Agile methodologies in the way we work. To help achieve this vision, US Oncology developed Agile Digital Teams to innovate new ways of communicating, measuring, and interacting with our customers and patients through digital channels and technologies. A core member of those teams is the Scrum Master.

The Associate Director US Oncology Marketing Scrum Master is accountable for promoting the Agile Digital Team(s) in their effort to develop and execute digital/ omnichannel strategies across our portfolio of brands to drive greater customer experience, innovation, and business value. In addition, the Scrum Master will develop a strategy to realize the cultural changes needed to embed agile standards and practices in the way we work.

Position Location: This role has a Hybrid working arrangement, with 2-3 days per week in the Upper Gwynedd office.

Primary Assignments:

  • Promotes the launch and training of the Agile Team

  • Guides the team on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values to improve the quality, speed, and compliance of digital promotion

  • Coaches the team to higher levels of agile maturity over time

  • Sponsors the Product Owner in maintenance and refinement of the product backlog (i.e. clarification of work and what to prioritize)

  • Facilitates SCRUM ceremonies (Daily Scrum, Sprint Reviews, Sprint Retrospectives) and maintains KANBAN boards to enable transparency about the work and adjustments

  • Facilitates discussion to enable rapid and thoughtful decision making

  • Guides the team on how to optimize self-organization

  • Removes impediments to work progress via servant leadership, coaching or influencing actions of SMEs and management

  • Builds a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on progress and problem-solving

  • Models and coaches’ diplomacy and passionate intelligence to enable conflict resolution and a self-directed team mindset

  • Assists with internal and external communication and manages transparency issues with leadership


  • Bachelor's Degree (BS/BA)

  • Preferred: Master's Degree (MA/MBA)

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Biopharmaceutical marketing or marketing communications

  • Strong executive presence and communication skills with ability to speak with candor when appropriate

  • Demonstrated influencing skills and ability to align various stakeholders to a common goal

  • Poise to work objectively and successfully navigate through ambiguity

  • Strong comprehension of compliance-related concepts and application in all job-related functions

  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills

  • Knowledge of the promotion operations processes including content creation, approval, digital publishing, and content management

  • Amenable to servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of other Agile approaches: Kanban being a key priority

  • Scrum certified and/or knowledge in a Scrum Master role (i.e., comprehension of scrum values, practices, and theory)

  • Strong comprehension of change management

  • Directing a large field or HQ change initiative

  • Project Management knowledge and/or certifications

  • Strong comprehension of the end-to-end marketing process

  • Strong appreciation of the evolving US healthcare landscape and interdependencies
