Cinematographer and Editor
Position Summary
If you value teamwork and creative collaboration, if you work well in fast paced environments, and if you enjoy pushing yourself (and others on your team) to find new ways to tell familiar stories that inspire action, this might be the job for you!
While listed as a cinematographer/editor role, this position truly encompasses the entire production process. You'll work with a team to develop the creative vision, support pre-production, capture beautiful footage with a small crew, and manage clients with specific needs and tight deadlines. Finally, you'll shape a story from a jumble of footage into an engaging edit - from rough cut through finishing.
A typical week takes many forms, including: supporting with pre-production on one project while doing sound design and color on a second; flying to a location and filming; or spend the full week in an edit cave.
Work you'll do:
- Operate cinema camera(s), set lighting, adjust sound, and direct talent for short-form video projects
- Create masterful storytelling through creative and engaged editing from assembly through final polish
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience as a camera operator (and a smooth operator)
- Technical competence with cinema cameras, including camera support and motion, lighting, audio, and grip in a studio setting or on location
- 3+ years of experience editing (Premiere Pro Required, Davinci Resolve and After Effects are Bonus)
- Competence in end-to-end editing process (i.e. the ability bring a project from assembly through story development, review and revisions, and finishing (color and sound) on a short deadline).
- A strong sense of visual storytelling.
- Ability to lead client-facing creative pitches, edit reviews, and logistical discussions.
- Confidence to pitch your own ideas on how to solve a brief
- Experience working on small crews both on-set and throughout pre- and post-production.
- Willingness to travel several times per month.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
Preferred Qualifications
- Significant experience crafting content for multiple social platforms
- Experience pitching new projects and creative concepts to new and existing clients
- Experience with complex sound/microphone arrangements
