Boston, Massachusetts, United States

We are a small, but rapidly growing, nationwide law firm that helps veterans of the U.S. Armed & Uniformed Forces obtain the benefits they deserve from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. We are looking for a Salesperson with consultative sales experience. This position is responsible for identifying veteran's needs and selling them on our firm's ability to assist them in obtaining the benefits to which they are due.

Potential clients reach out to us for help with complex problems and we believe that we have an obligation to help them find a solution. Most of the time, our solutions just happen to be in the form of providing legal services. We will never ask you to sell anything to anyone if we don’t believe it is in their best interest. So, if you think that “sales” is something you do to someone and not for them then please don’t apply. You must be able to speak comfortably about the value we bring in winning their case and the fees we collect in doing so.

If you truly want to help people find a solution to their problems and can approach conversations with maturity and sensitivity, then this position can be highly rewarding to you personally, professionally, and financially.

While we strongly support personal and professional development, we do not have the time to teach you the importance of following up with someone when you say you will, how to use technology, or overcome your fears of having a sales conversation. However, we will provide you with all the training you need to best help our clients.

This position will

  • Answer phones and triage calls
  • Screen leads to identify who is qualified to purchase our legal services
  • Conduct intake and sales conversations to identify problems and sell solutions
  • Oversee the client onboarding process to ensure a smooth transition to the legal team
  • Follow up with potential new clients and existing clients
  • Track and report metrics relating to marketing and sales conversion data
  • Maintain records and enter critical data into the firm’s software systems

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Understand how to build a relationship with a person
  • Show the ability to interact positively with different types of personalities
  • Demonstrate empathetic listening to potential clients and put them at ease
  • Know how to close a sale by creating urgency and promoting value
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication skills, both over the phone and in writing
  • Think on their toes and not be discouraged when things don’t go as planned
  • Treat all calls or meetings with care and compassion
  • Follow instructions and understand the importance of policies and procedures
  • Be a team player that consistently acts with respect and integrity
  • Be tech savvy (Microsoft Windows, law firm systems, and cloud-based software)
  • Be a native English speaker. Fluency in Spanish as a second language is highly desired
  • Status as an honorably discharged U.S. veteran is also highly desired

Because our firm is nationwide, the right candidate will work remotely/virtually. We are seeking individuals for both first and second shifts.

Real life experience and a few “battle scars” providing empathy and understanding are assets. Experience overcoming a major obstacle in life and making an important change in your life, so you know at your core that others can do it too, is a plus.

Our salesperson doesn’t give legal advice so legal experience is not required. Prior sales and customer service experience is required because we can teach you how a case moves through the system but we can’t teach you how to care about someone going through a difficult situation or the importance of following up.

We are looking for a results-oriented team player that wants to have a positive impact on people’s lives while helping us grow our business. The person we hire must bring a high level of energy, positivity, and can-do attitude to work every day.

We are BIG believers in the value of a team. If you prefer to be a “lone wolf" then this job is not for you. We collaborate and support each other.

We are looking for self-motivated individuals with fire and ambition, not excuse-making “clock-watchers”.

Compensation will include a base salary of between $45k and $55k annually plus a quarterly performance-based incentive. Total first-year compensation at goal is estimated at $80k.

DIRECTIONS TO APPLY:

When you submit your resume, include a cover letter with the following:

  • Paragraph 1: Tell us why you think you’re the ideal candidate for helping veterans.
  • Paragraph 2: Share with us three sales achievements of which you're most proud.
  • Paragraph 3: Names, phone numbers, and email addresses of three supervisors who can speak with us about your work performance (not simply confirm you worked for the company during a certain period).
