What you'll be doing...

As part of Verizon Enterprise Solutions, you'll be leading a team of five to nine sales professionals to drive wins of large enterprise pursuits and strategic bids in Public Sector (SLED). Your team will craft service solutions bringing together just the right elements for your client from professional services, outsourcing, end-to-end communications, mobility and network services, to hosting, cloud services, and security solutions to tackle the most complex, multi-faceted challenges for new customers. You'll coach and mentor your direct reports to win new business, increase win rates, and defend critical business. When your team solves the toughest problems for our biggest clients, you'll be helping drive our business and theirs. As a player/coach role you will be responsible to manage large captures, as well as, develop and implement win/capture strategies across the assigned State, Local, and Education (SLED) portfolio to grow the buisness. Additionally you will:

  • Execute the Business Development & Strategic Sales business capture process, coach the team and stakeholders through the process, and lead continuous improvement efforts to improve efficiency and efficacy of the process
    Coach team and stakeholders through Verizon's deal lifecycle management governance
  • Build and maintain a dedicated capture team that delivers superior customer experiences
  • Drive and track team performance to achieve key performance indicators and goals
  • Inspire individual and team performance through on-going training, development, coaching, recognition, and rewards
  • Continually review team members' deliverables and provide improvement feedback
  • Synthesize bid trends and learnings and document and share best practices and bid strategies across Public Sector
  • Establish, grow, and maintain positive relationships and partnerships with internal and external customers and partners
  • Build trust, influence, and communicate effectively with executive management
  • Manage financial, budget, and sales reporting activities
  • Participate in trade shows and other industry events on behalf of Verizon

You are an effective and inspiring leader, able to engage and motivate a team to deliver outstanding performance. You enjoy working in a multifaceted environment and you have the ability to balance competing demands and priorities. You have the eye for business` and executive presence to establish credibility with the c-suite, and you're energized by the prospect of developing the next generation of sales leaders--while landing the next big account. When you negotiate, you effectively balance the customer need with your needs to result in a win for everyone.

You'll need to have:
  • Bachelor's degree or 12 or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Proven track record of leading/winning complex pursuits.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
  • Led and encouraged a team to high performance.
  • Practitioner of Shipley or equivalent new business pursuit methodologies
  • Met or exceeded meaningful sales targets. Ideally, with new customers.
  • History of executive engagement particularly with C-Suite or public sector equivalents (ie CIO)
  • Established compelling business cases, value propositions, and proposals.
  • Funnel management experience with Salesforce.com.
