As the global population ages, eye diseases are projected to significantly increase over the coming decades. <br><br>At the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR), we are focused on discovering therapies for glaucoma, AMD, and other blinding eye diseases. Our therapeutic strategy encompasses a broad range of cutting edge approaches including gene therapy, optogenetics, small molecules, antibodies, and more.<br><br>We are seeking a creative and collaborative senior level scientist to join our ophthalmology department to help discover new therapies for ocular diseases. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and analyzing in vivo pharmacology experiments with an emphasis on ocular imaging and electrophysiology readouts. You will be working in a highly matrixed, team-oriented, and collaborative environment.<br><br>Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:<br><br>•Identify, develop and validate new in vivo structural and/or functional read-outs to fulfill program needs.<br>•Plan and perform in vivo pharmacology experiments, then analyze, summarize, and clearly present that data to inform project team decisions.<br>•Use imaging/electrophysiology readouts to evaluate ocular structure and function in animal models. Specifically: optical coherence tomography (OCT), scanning laser ophthalmoscopy (SLO), and electroretinography (ERG) are among the many read-outs the team employs. <br>•Establish and validate in vivo models of ocular disease that will be used to develop new drugs.<br>•Apply creative solutions toward solving experimental challenges. <br>•Maintain an open and collaborative mindset, required to effectively operate in a highly matrixed team.<br><br>[#video#{#400,300#}#/video#]
