We are seeking a talented and motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow with expertise in Neuroscience and a strong interest for synaptic biology to join the Neuroscience Department in West Point, PA. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will work in close collaboration with neuroscientists at our company to advance the understanding of synaptic deficits in neurodegenerative diseases. All Postdoctoral Research Fellows work with a dedicated mentor, collaborate with experienced scientists, and are fully integrated into the larger Neuroscience group.

Responsibilities includes:

  • Develop familiarity and keep updated with literature on synaptic biology in neurodegenerative diseases.
  • Work with disease area collaborators in identifying strategy on validating synaptic targets and develop study plans.
  • Execute, troubleshoot and analyze data for presentation at team meetings and external conferences as well as peer-reviewed publications.
  • Conduct histological and biochemical analysis of in vitro cell culture preparations and ex vivo tissues using a variety of techniques e.g. nucleotide and protein biochemical assays, immunohistochemistry and imaging technologies.

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Candidates must be recent graduates and currently hold a PhD OR receive a PhD by Fall 2023.
  • Degree in Neuroscience, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related field.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Background in Cellular or Molecular Neuroscience, or another related field.
  • Experience with biochemical methods and cell culture methods, such as PCR, ELISA, Western Blotting, histology and rodent primary neuronal cultures.
  • Experience with fixed and/or live cell fluorescence imaging.
  • Motivated by scientific inquiry.
  • Excellent presentation and scientific writing skills, demonstrated by publication record.
  • Team player with experience working in multidisciplinary teams but yet able to independently design, execute and summarize experiments.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Expertise in synaptogenesis.
  • Experience with methods for investigating spines in vitro and in vivo using imaging platforms and biochemical assays.
  • Experience with in vitro and in vivo models of Alzheimer’s disease.
