The Neuroscience Discovery department within our company's Research Labs (West Point, PA) is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Fellow with expertise in cellular and molecular biology, protein biochemistry, lysosome biology and a strong interest in Neuroscience drug discovery. The successful candidate will use a combination of molecular and cell biological techniques to study the molecular mechanisms of lysosomal function under physiological and pathophysiological conditions of neurodegeneration, to increase understanding of the disease processes for Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and ALS.

The postdoctoral fellow will work in close collaboration with cell biologists, neuroscientists, geneticists, electrophysiologists, and chemists, across our company's network to execute a research project with the goal of publishing the results in peer-reviewed journals. Promising prospective candidates that do not meet all of the required experience/skills outlined below are nonetheless encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities include:

  • Culture of immortalized, primary, and iPSC-derived cell lines
  • Imaging (immunohistochemistry, immunocytochemistry, confocal imaging)
  • Biochemical assays (ELISA, Western blotting, Immunoprecipitation)
  • Expertise in and knowledge of neurobiology in the context of neurodegeneration would be a strong advantage
  • Sharing of knowledge in team meetings and through attending internal and external scientific conferences
  • Write and submit publications to peer-reviewed journals

Position Qualifications:

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Candidates must currently hold a PhD OR receive a PhD within one year in molecular cell biology, biochemistry, neuroscience, or related field.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Ph.D. degree in molecular, cell biology, biochemistry, genectics, neuroscience, or related field
  • Excellent communication skills (written, presentation, and oral)
  • General cell and molecular biology techniques
  • Ability to work in team settings in a highly collaborative environment
  • Ability to work effectively and flexibly within timelines on multifaceted projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare peer-reviewed publications.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Demonstrated skill sets and experience in for studying lysosome biology in the context of neurodegeneration including biochemical and imaging assays
