Our Discovery Biology, Retinal Diseases group at South San Francisco, CA, is seeking a Co-op who will work collaboratively in a team environment at our state-of-the-art laboratories to design and implement in vitro and in vivo experiments exploring biological pathways driving pathological changes leading to blindness. The Co-op will be responsible for accurate electronic notebook recording of experimental details and for analysis and interpretation of data used for internal or external scientific publications that may follow from the internship. Co-ops will have the opportunity to gain further knowledge and skillsets via refinement of laboratory skills, introduction to new experimental techniques, exposure to current challenges in discovery research, and perspectives on the practical aspects of drug development. In addition, the Co-op intern will have an opportunity to present their research results in both oral and written formats. We seek Co-op candidates at all levels with strong academic performance, communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to work in a multi-functional environment.
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree or higher education in Biology, Physiology, Genetics, Animal Science, Pharmacology or related fields
Candidates must have completed at least two (2) years of studies toward a Bachelor’s degree by June 2024
Required Experience and Skills:
- Candidates must be able to commit to full-time onsite employment for 4 - 6 months beginning Spring/Summer 2024
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Candidates should have a significant interest in drug discovery
Candidates should have basic laboratory skills and research experiences such as electronic notebook recording, molecular biology techniques, handling rodents and/or data analysis basic workup procedures, and safe lab practices
Candidates should have a GPA of 3.0 or higher

Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.
Expected salary range:

U.S. Hybrid Work Model
