What are we looking for?

This role reports directly to the Maintenance, Engineering and Reliability Manager and is responsible for leading/directing a multiple skilled, flexible work team to ensure; safe permit compliant, efficient and effective maintenance of operational equipment at a twenty-four hour/day continuously operated facility.

What you’ll own in this role…

• Lead a maintenance team and ensure adherence to safe and environmentally correct work practices, a proactive approach to teamwork, continuous improvement and cost reduction.
• Accountable for safety goals and Critical Success Factors for safety performance by active participation and leadership in solving safety issues and coordinating safety and housekeeping programs
• Plan as required, coordinate and monitor the activities of maintenance team to ensure production targets, maintenance goals, and quality specifications are met safely and efficiently in accordance to company/plant polices procedures and work instructions.
• Coordinate Maintenance activities with Maintenance Planner, Maintenance and Reliability Manager and other personnel as appropriate.
• Assists maintenance team with troubleshooting difficult issues.
• Manage the performance and development of personnel through on-going feedback, annual performance reviews, coaching, counseling, and recognition.
• Ensures job notifications are entered in SAP at time issues arise. Converts job notifications to work orders in SAP. Ensures work orders are updated, daily, with all pertinent information entered accurately (e.g. hours worked, techs assigned, damage and cause codes, full descriptions of work completed).
• Ensure group obtains business knowledge required to work effectively.
• Monitor cost to help ensure compliance with budgets. Report potential variances.
• Maintain and encourage collaborative resolutions and communications of work issues among employees, departments and various work groups.
• Establish and share maintenance best practices.
• Co-ordinate and supervise the work of contractors.
• Complete reports and documentation as required.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.

What you’ll need to be successful…

• High School Diploma/GED
• 10 years of experience in plant maintenance experience
• 5 years of experience of supervisory experience preferably in a maintenance environment
• Strong knowledge of work management processes, labor estimating and resource balancing
• Strong working knowledge of plant / facilities equipment
• Strong understanding of skilled crafts such a mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation
• Strong computer and communication skills
• Initiative, Business Ethics and Communication Effectiveness, Relationship Building.
• Strong verbal and written skills.
• Coaching, meeting management and facilitation skills.
• Safety Awareness, PPE and safe practices knowledge.

• Must be able to work 3rd shift

• Must have CMRP certification or be willing to pursue it with employer assistance

Qualifications that can set you apart …

• 1-3 years’ experience with CMMS systems
• Experience in a union environment
• Mechanical Journeyman’s Card or License
• Experience working in HPWP
• Basic Chemistry and Physics
• Basic Welding Skills
• Chemical Plant Experience
• Demonstrated experience around key Working Relationships and Accountabilities with: Production, Maintenance, Engineering Departments and Supervision of vendors and outside contracts.
• Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
