Position Description:

We are looking for a communications Director with expertise in change management communications and digital communications for a global organization.

This will be a key role within the Global Communications and Manufacturing team, focused on developing and executing strategic change management communications plans; leveraging and managing thought leadership opportunities; integrating corporate and divisional narrative across different levels and organizations; enabling and empowering leaders as communicators; engaging and understanding employees in every layer of our global organization starting at the factory shop floor; developing digital and other innovative solutions to improve strategy assimilation and transparency; improving content management across all manufacturing organizations; improving employee engagement through innovative storytelling that integrates our company’s narrative; ensuring a consistent approach across existing Corporate and Divisional programs.

  • The Director supports the effectiveness and impact from all of these communications activities.

  • This role works directly with colleagues and leadership to support business critical initiatives while integrating with the broader global communications function.

  • This position reports to the Executive Director, Global Communications, Manufacturing Division.

Primary Activities:

  • Supports the execution of strategies that positively impact and help the organization navigate through change, growth, crisis and employee affairs.

  • Drives strategy communications plans, including empowering managers and other key stakeholders with information and tools to help them inform and influence their staff.

  • Establishes and streamlines key communications processes to increase the efficacy of our narrative.

  • Leverages thought leadership efforts to strengthen our Company’s reputation, while elevating the profile of key manufacturing senior leaders.

  • Contributes to positioning the Manufacturing organization as an employer of choice among current and prospective employees.

  • Surfaces stories of innovation, safety and diversity that can be communicated internally and externally to advance our Company’s narrative.

  • Creates communications processes that increase message assimilation while reducing redundancies and minimizing noise.

  • Manages external partners to ensure implementation of the communications strategy.

  • Collaborates across the organization to support that the company’s communications are executed in a strategic, consistent and measurable manner and that communications resources are aligned to business priorities.

Position Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelors degree

  • Graduate degree preferred

Working Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

  • 9+ years of experience in Corporate Communications, or similar role, with extensive experience working in-house with publicly-traded company(ies);

  • Track record of success in change management communications.

  • Biased to think in new and innovative ways about internal and external communication and is fluent in social media and other technology enabled communications channels.

  • Strategic thinker and hands-on individual who can take projects from concept to implementation in a team environment.

  • Proven track record as a strong strategic communications leader who has demonstrated capabilities to drive organizational change, ensure employee engagement and manage cross-functional projects.

  • Proven track record as intelligent risk taker and creative problem solver.

  • Demonstrated success in collaborating across functions and across geographies.

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills

  • Proven ability to translate science/business/technical information, developments and challenges into compelling communications for key stakeholders

  • Strong collaborator with effective relationship and partnership skills

  • Maintains direction and focus through proactive, integrated planning; takes an organized, data-driven approach

  • Possesses passion, energy, a detail orientation, and enthusiasm to drive results

Preferred Working Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

  • Knowledge of working within a highly regulated industry; deep business knowledge, solid understanding of manufacturing across a global enterprise.
