Job Description

Our sourcing team partners with the business to ensure the efficient acquisition of goods and services that enable the commercialization of our medicines, vaccines, and Animal Health products. We collaborate internationally and are grouped into center-led categories and regional operating teams.

Position Description:

The Associate Director of Energy & Utilities Procurement will report to the Director of Site Services Procurement and will lead the Energy & Utilities category.

Responsible for:

  • Partnering with leaders throughout the organization, the primary goals of this role are to:

  • Manage the global sourcing strategy of electricity, natural gas, fuel oil, steam, propane, water, industrial gases, renewables, and energy advisory services.

  • Provide oversight and administration of the Company’s energy risk management program with the support of business partners and third-party energy procurement advisors.

  • Provide high quality energy market intelligence and analysis to key business partners to support operational decision-making.

  • Support the Company sustainability goals through the procurement of virtual power purchase agreements, environmental attributes, and on-site low carbon technology.

  • Lead the refresh the execution of the Energy Indirect Procurement Strategy to include but not limited to, the optimization of the following:

  • Category Management Strategy, Contract Risk and Stakeholder Management Strategies, Supplier Relationship Management Program

Primary capabilities include, but are not limited to:

Business Outcome Orientation:

  • Uses in-depth knowledge of stakeholder needs, market trends and risks and proactively provides market intelligence to identify and tailor Global Procurement activities to positively impact stakeholder relationships, improve the quality of decisions, and reduce risk to the Company.

Category &Technical Expertise:

  • Applies in-depth Energy and Utility-specific knowledge to propose recommendations to enhance existing and/or introduce new procurement processes or service capabilities that align with and support our corporate energy and sustainability goals.

  • Direct experience with sourcing and contracting utility scale renewable power purchase agreements (i.e., virtual, direct off-take) and Procurement Environmental Sustainability program management

Change Management:

  • Lead change management activities to identifies issues and makes necessary adjustments to keep the activities on track and on course.

  • Identifies comprehensive group of stakeholders from across the entire business and at appropriate senior levels to drive support for projects and initiatives.

  • Builds support for proposed solutions by influencing through others and making the case for change relevant to our business and sustainability goals.

Negotiation and Contract Management:

  • Sets, leads, and implements negotiation strategies with key suppliers and uses innovative solutions to resolve conflicts.

  • Manages complex agreements such as VPPAs, energy service agreements, and advises on national-level utility supply agreements to improve value and reduce risks to our Company.

  • Leverage internal/external expertise and make financially impactful decisions regarding the procurement and risk management of energy.

Sourcing Management Process:

  • Leads cross functional teams through the Sourcing Management Process and creates and implements strategy that considers the internal and external impacts of the organization.

  • Drive competitive sourcing events (RFQs, RFIs, RFPs) and support vendor selection, commercial negotiation and contracting, and market awareness.

Productive Communication:

  • Build relationships with key business partners to successfully drive and influence strategies.

  • Ensure effective collaboration with key senior stakeholders across geographies.

Diversity and Inclusion:

  • Actively support diversity, both within our Company as well as expanding relationships and spend with Diverse Partners.

  • The successful candidate will be a strong advocate for increasing opportunities for Diverse Suppliers.

Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Implement Supplier Relationship Management with the key suppliers to foster innovation, manage supplier performance, establish a Governance Model, and optimize supplier capabilities to address business requirements.

  • Develop and maintain supplier performance metrics and manage the feedback process.

Process Optimization:

  • Drives continuous improvement opportunities for Global Procurement and business stakeholders based on deep knowledge of global energy markets and how they impact our operations.

Position Qualifications:

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Finance, Business, or related field.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Procurement – 8+ years Global Procurement / Global Strategic Sourcing or global business management (Engineering, Operations, Finance, Administration) experience and Sustainable Sourcing Management.

  • Technical – Indirect Procurement / Global Category Management knowledge, including global experience in Energy & Utility operations and with renewable energy contracting.

  • Deep expertise in Energy & Utilities procurement including Category Strategy Development, Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Relationship Management, Project Management, and a foundational understanding of global energy markets.

Drives innovative approaches in utilization of energy market intelligence and emerging low-carbon technologies at our production sites.

Ensures that the Category approach is aligned with and supports our Company's global procurement strategy. Understands global markets and supplier capabilities. Drives global compliance at Category level.

$106,600.00-$181,400.00
