Associate Director, Market Access
Job Description
Position will be responsible for the development of above-brand segment strategies and tactics related to Integrated Account Management customer segments, specifically 340B/government lives, GPO, and Specialty Pharmacy. The incumbent will support the customer facing account teams and OCAR and payer/brand marketing. This role will serve as an expert on segment trends, customer needs, and business opportunities. This position ensures that business decisions and contract strategies incorporate the perspectives and impact that our customer’s business and financial POV (e.g. actuarial, budget-orientation, business strategies) may have on product access.
The position will be reporting directly to Executive Director of IAM Strategic Insights group and may be worked from UG/HQ or hybrid remote.
Responsibilities include:
Address strategic questions as part of in-depth assessment of customer segment (market segmentation, leverage points and gaps/opportunities) to address current and future market evolution
Provide input into brand/payer marketing teams for them to incorporate segment trends, customer point of view and related implications into planning and strategy
Monitors the US Healthcare environment related to Payer segments to understand how our pricing & contracting decisions may impact future affordability, access and utilization of our products. Serve as expert on segment-specific trends, related business models (e.g., dollar flow), and “voice of the customer’. Informs and educates internal stakeholders on trends.
Support above-brand segment engagement strategies and associated resources for Integrated Account Management customer-facing teams; work closely with IAM Leadership and Point Directors for feedback and insight on approaches
Work closely with promotion points in the development of above-brand resources and information tools (presentations, coaching guides, etc.)
Develops or oversees development of decision support (analytics, tools, reports) to incorporate actuarial perspectives and other customer financial points of view into business decision support
Manages our company relationship with outside actuarial and consulting services that improve and maintain ties to trends in these areas for major customer segments.
Education Minimum Requirement:
Required: BA/BS Degree
Preferred: MBA or other advanced degree
Required Experience and Skills:
Minimum of five (5) years combined marketing, marketing/sales support or account management/sales; Finance, Market Analytics, Actuarial Science, Population Health Economics, Global Market Access, Managed Markets, Healthcare Economics/Finance, Contract Management, Pricing, or related functions
Strong analytic background, with experience helping to frame and support important business decisions
Strong, demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated capability to think strategically
Ability to learn quickly and to assess a variety of scenarios, strategically and operationally
Strong project management and demonstrated experience and ability to manage cross functional teams effectively as well as ability to manage external experts (consultants, actuaries)
Understanding of macro US healthcare trends and stakeholders
Strong proactive leadership skills and ability to collaborate across the organization
Ability to influence without authority
Commitment to compliance
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Experience with pricing, contracting and reimbursement in US, including knowledge of rules and regulations, contract management and execution, contract performance evaluation
Understanding of key US customers (payer, channel, provider), especially the financial considerations and business models that drug assessment and coverage decisions. Well-versed in underlying trends in healthcare reimbursement, payment, and coverage in the US
Works well with customers and customer facing teams with a mindset of improving our overall account management approach in these areas
Experience across both medical benefit and pharmaceutical benefit models for drug coverage and reimbursement
