Job Description

Our Sourcing team partner with the business to ensure efficient acquisition of goods and services that enables the commercialization of our medicines, vaccines and Animal Health products. We collaborate internationally and are grouped into center-led categories and regional operating teams.

Position Description:

The position of Associate Director of R&D Sourcing and Procurement is responsible for supporting key objectives aligned with the Observational Research & Real-World Evidence category strategy.

The Associate Director will be responsible for leading efforts to build a local and regional support model to ensure the consistent and high-quality sourcing of Local Data Generation studies (LDGs) in close alignment with stakeholders.

The Associate Director will also be responsible for working closely with the category Director in the creation and oversight of key strategies that support the continued development and evolution of the category. The Associate Director will manage one direct employee and will be responsible for operating within a high complexity category with challenging requirements across the globe.

The job responsibilities are as follows:

Category Scope –

  • Direct responsibility for leading the continued development of an LDG support model, developing local/regional sourcing strategies and managing supplier relationships in close collaboration with Global Medical & Scientific Affairs and the Procurement Central Functions.

Sourcing Management –

  • To adopt, lead, and execute the Sourcing Management Process by leading cross-functional and cross-departmental teams

Strategy Creation –

  • Identify sourcing opportunities that will contribute directly towards the development of our category strategy

  • Work across multiple departments through the establishment of cross-functional teams to identify sourcing and governance opportunities that will reduce redundancies, increase collaboration, and optimize sourcing and study cycle times

Sourcing –

  • Oversee and lead sourcing activities required including RFP, legal/commercial negotiations, and contracting with a broad range of suppliers in the Observational Research & Real-World Evidence space

Strategy Implementation –

  • Oversee and manage engagements with stakeholders, suppliers, and other categories and departments to drive strategy alignment and execution

Stakeholder Management –

  • Work both independently and collaboratively in a way that positively engages the support of stakeholders using proactive problem solving and communication skills.

  • Assist in the development of the Supply Strategy Council (SSC) Program that helps build a sourcing project pipeline and ensures alignment with key stakeholders

Market Understanding/Business Requirements –

  • Develop a deep understanding of business needs, category knowledge and existing ways of working to develop and drive innovative solutions

Project and Change Management –

  • The complexity of categories and projects require high quality project and program management – especially with internal support groups

People Management –

  • Responsibility for developing and managing one direct report

Position Qualifications:

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Bachelor's Degree OR Equivalent Work Experience

Required Experience and Skills:

  • minimum 3+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, supplier management, or equivalent roles

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Diverse sourcing background in multiple categories supporting different aspects of related businesses

  • International Business experience

  • MBA or advanced degree is desirable.

  • Subject matter expertise with Pharma requirements and Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR)

Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.

Expected salary range:

$118,640.00 - $186,800.00
