Job Description:

The Leidos Innovations Center (LInC) seeks skilled and experienced candidates for a mid-level Machine Learning (ML) Research Engineer primarily focused on radio frequency (RF) machine learning (ML) applications, to work in our Chantilly, VA office. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience and expertise to conduct applied research and development (R&D), system prototyping and transition of advanced technologies to operational status. Solutions developed address some of our nation’s most difficult defense and intelligence problems across a diverse set of RF ML, digital signal processing, high performance computing, and systems engineering disciplines.

Primary Responsibilities

The qualified candidate will act as a technical contributor to a multi-disciplinary, multi-organizational team addressing a variety of RF ML problems. The candidate will regularly interact with Leidos technical and management leadership and customers to plan and execute R&D projects, document and report project results, and support internal R&D and business capture efforts.

Basic Qualifications

The successful candidate will have the following educational background and work experience:

  • Ph.D. degree in in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science and/or Computer Science with expertise in ML and Deep Learning as applied to media (text, image, speech, etc.) recognition, and signal detection and classification problems in complex environments with limited training data.

  • Alternatively, a Master’s degree in these fields with 3-4 years of related work experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in these fields and 4-6 years of related work experience with a strong emphasis on application ML techniques

  • Ability to perform in a self-motivated, team-oriented environment

  • Fluency in Python, MATLAB, R or similar engineering software environments

  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and hold a TS/SCI clearance with counterintelligence polygraph

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience in RF ML techniques, particularly as applied to wireless communications

  • Knowledge and experience in digital signal processing, digital communications, or radar systems

  • Technical project leadership experience

  • Fluency in Java, Python, MATLAB or C/C++

  • Software and document configuration management experience

  • Proposal development experience

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph

Pay Range $74,750.00 - $115,000.00 - $155,250.00
