About Us
Global Vaccines & Biologics Commercialization (GVBC) is responsible for advancing our growing pipeline of large molecules. This includes the planning and execution of process development studies to support design & characterization of commercial-scale processes. The organization is also responsible for technology transfer to commercial manufacturing sites. We support process validation, regulatory approval, and initial launch of our new products.
GVBC includes three departments listed below. The intent is to have one co-op assigned to each department.
- Bioprocess Drug Substance Commercialization BDCS - (West Point, PA, Rahway, NJ, Kenilworth, NJ and North Wales, PA), is responsible for commercializing Our Company’s innovative vaccine and biologics products, providing world class expertise in commercial large molecule drug substance development and transition to commercial supply. BDSC scientists have expertise in upstream bioprocessing, purification, and conjugation chemistry in laboratories, pilot plants, and commercial facilities.
- Sterile Drug Product Commercialization SDPC - (West Point, PA) - is responsible for commercializing Our Company’s innovative vaccine, biologics, and sterile pharma products, providing world class expertise in commercial sterile drug product development and transition to commercial supply. SDPC activities include late-stage process development and characterization, technology transfer, and regulatory filing authoring to enable launch and initial supply.
- Commercialization Operations & Process Attribute Sciences ComPAS - (West Point, PA, Kenilworth, NJ, North Wales, PA) – is responsible for supporting the Large Molecule commercialization departments through development and implementation of process analytics that characterize the manufacturing processes. The ComPAS team also delivers efficiency and speed with cross-departmental support of laboratory operations, business systems, and quality/compliance.
This position is responsible for but not limited to:
- Designing and executing process development and characterization studies
- Authoring technical protocols for studies, including ensuring appropriate design of experiments (DoE), sample size selection, and acceptance criteria
- Managing sample submission and tracking. Employing statistical tools and methods to analyze results
- Authoring technical reports that can be used as source documentation for regulatory filings
- Participation in development teams (working group)
- Presenting study results and conclusions at team (working group) and department meetings
- Ensuring technical information is clearly understood and integrated into decision making
- Supporting computational modeling work
- Authoring or performing second-person review (SPR) for high-quality regulatory submissions
- Ensuring safety when performing experiments in the lab and documentation compliance when performing technical writing
- Supporting portfolio and project management initiatives
- Providing support to commercial operations through participating in laboratory and business operations activities
- Contributing to a culture of high performance, out of the box thinking, innovation and learning, empowerment, diversity and inclusion
This is a full- time Co-Op position.
Under New York City, Washington State and California State law, the Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.
Expected salary range:
$39,600.00-$105,500.00
Required Education & Experience:
- Candidate must be pursuing BS or MS degree in Chemical, Pharm Sci, Biomedical, or related Engineering discipline
- Candidate must be available for a duration of 12 months, with a start date of approximately 31Aug2023
- Candidate must have communication, leadership and teamwork skills
Preferred Experience & Skills:
- Candidates should have hands-on laboratory experience in biologics or vaccine research
- Candidates should have experience using Lean/Six Sigma tools
- Candidates should have capabilities for managing multiple tasks simultaneously, including leading small projects
- Candidates should have frequent interactions with individuals within own and from other departments
- Candidates should have experience with software such as Excel, JMP, Minitab, and MATLAB
