This position can be based at our Moon Township PA, Menomonee Falls WI, Southfield MI, Cleveland OH or Raleigh NC facility. Relocation assistance will be provided if needed.The Data Science Specialist will be directly involved in the application of statistics, machine learning, and analytic approaches to answer challenging business questions. Its where bold, bright professionals like you can reach your full potentialand where you can help us reach ours.In this role you will:+ Develop advanced machine learning, data analytics, AI and optimization algorithms and apply them to create new intelligent devices, solutions and services for Eatons businesses=+ Derive, interpret and effectively deliver the results of data analysis using visualization techniques, tools, custom applications, or by narrating stories about the solutions to business problems+ Apply traditional and new data analysis methods to build statistical models and discover patterns in data+ Explore data, ask the right questions, and provide compelling findings+ Utilize a broad range of techniques in machine learning, data mining, statistics, and big data interrogation methods+ Develop and execute agile work plans for iterative and incremental project delivery+ Coordinate with business stakeholders, engineering, and test to create high quality solutions that solve end-user problems+ Evaluate business requirements to determine potential solutions+ Develop data science competency and share principles, benefits, and best practices across the enterprise+ Assist other engineering teams with their data science initiativesWhen we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we as individuals and as a company are stronger. QualificationsBasic Qualifications:+ Masters degree in computer science, engineering, software engineering, statistics, applied mathematics or physics from an accredited institution+ Minimum of 3 years experience after Ph. D or 7 years of industrial experience+ Must be legally eligible to work in the United States on an on-going basis without Company sponsorshipPreferred Qualifications+ PhD in computer science, engineering, software engineering, statistics, applied mathematics or physics from an accredited institutionPosition Criteria+ Practical experience in the application of data science approaches with a proven track record of solving critical business problems and uncovering new business opportunities+ Solid technology depth and breadth in advanced machine learning and data analytics techniques with strong mathematical understanding of the algorithms+ Proficient software development skills in Python, R, Matlab and/or other programming languages+ Experience with Agile development methodologies and concepts+ Abreast of upcoming data science tools, trends, and methodologies+ Industrial domain knowledge of production-grade analytics solutions for industrial applications such as electric power systems (utility/micro grids) or machine diagnostics/prognostics+ Experience in Design Thinking or human-centered methods+ Knowledge of big data platforms (Hadoop, Azure, etc.)+ Experience preparing big data infrastructures, integrating data from disparate systems, and cleansing data+ Experience with visualization techniques+ Familiarity with machine learning libraries and frameworks such as (scikit-learn, Tensorflow, Keras, etc.)We are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
