Job Description

Subject to applicable law, all prospective hires will be required to demonstrate that they have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or intend to be vaccinated for COVID-19 by November 1, 2021, or qualify for a medical or religious accommodation to this vaccination requirement. The Future Talent Program features Cooperative (Co-op) education that lasts up to 6 months and will include one or more projects. These opportunities in our Research & Development Divison can provide you with great development and a chance to see if we are the right company for your long-term goals. Our Research Scientists are our Inventors. We identify and target steps in disease mechanisms or pathways that could be inhibited or enhanced. Our goal is to isolate a compound that is effective against a disease target. Using innovative thinking, state-of-the-art facilities, and robust scientific methodology we collaborate to discover the next medical breakthrough.

Our company's Exploratory Science Center (ESC) in Cambridge provides a unique experience to contribute to our company’s drug discovery efforts at one of the earliest stages of the process. To this end, we strive to create a fast-paced, nimble and flexible environment of mutual respect, creativity, invention, and teamwork. Co-op students will be part of a highly collaborative and innovative scientific culture with the ultimate goal of learning new biology that drives therapeutic development. Students will be exposed to Immunology, Microbiology, Chemical Biology, Target Discovery, Synthetic Chemistry, and Bioactive Discovery, both within our company's Exploratory Science Center and other sites across the country. With access to our company's proven global R&D organization, students will have the opportunity to collaborate with talented and dedicated colleagues while developing and expanding their careers.

We are looking for a special co-op who will help our single-cell and ultra-sensitive mass spectrometry profiling efforts at the ESC by developing convergent miniaturized sample prep and mass spectrometer (MS) instrument control methods for shotgun and targeted peptide acquisition, as well as developing novel stable isotope labeling and multiplexing techniques in this area. The co-op will also help develop workflows using the robotics and automated low-volume cell and liquid handlers that we have in the lab, with the outcome of accelerating and alleviating the manual-intensive aspects of our sample prep. The co-op will further apply these techniques and approaches to a biological system, such as characterizing heterogeneous immune cell responses to external stimuli, working closely with their mentor to execute the research project during the co-op experience. This co-op will be enabled to work on-site at the ESC but may also have the opportunity to work off-site in-lab at Northeastern University, so as to maximize efficient completion of this project.
