Summary, Focus and Purpose

The New Products Senior Project Manager works closely with Production, Engineering, Technical Services, Quality, Stability, and Planning in support of PAI Readiness activities, new product introductions, new market launches, Technical Transfers, and marketing driven initiatives such as new market Tenders. Recognized as a subject matter expert in various site master data systems including SAP Material Master, SAP Engineering Change Management, Artwork Management Systems, and Supplier Transparency management making decisions based on policies, procedures, requirements, and guidelines.

Primary Key Functions

  • Work Independently and as a Team member with Integrity | Precision | Accomplishment | Motivational Ambition | Respect | Inclusion

  • Serves as site-level project manager to implement changes ranging from moderate to complex, high-priority, high-visibility launches with significant above-site/off-site involvement

  • Coordinates internal and external resources for the flawless execution of projects delivered on-time by developing a detailed project plan tracking progress to completion

  • Represents our Company Manufacturing Division (MD) on development and commercialization teams as appropriate by interfacing with Regulatory, Marketing, Product Strategy Leaders, Global Labeling Operations and other internal or external customers on new and existing products introductions by: Ensuring products conform to regulatory and compliance obligations (e.g. FDA, EMA, DEA, cGMP, etc.) | Reviewing Packaging Sections of Global Regulatory submissions

  • Develops packaging bills of materials (BOMs) to support production requirements

  • Coordinates artwork changes across multiple departments to assure regulatory timelines for implementation are met and that product supply is not interrupted

Secondary Key Functions

  • Deviation Author for Team as required by following the deviation management process

  • SOP author and/or reviewer for departmental related procedures

  • Develops and executes training plan as required for new team members

Education

  • Bachelor of Science degree

Required

  • Four years project management experience with the ability to multi-task and relevant work experience

  • Extremely detailed in both verbal communications and documentation

  • Manage multiple projects that span different timelines

  • Risk-based decision-making skills without knowledge of all the inputs

  • Strong Microsoft Office Knowledge – especially Outlook, Excel, and Word

  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, ability to work under pressure, and be a fast learner

  • Work in a Team-environment and collaborate cross-functionally

  • Working knowledge of Materials Requirements Planning System (SAP) and interrelationship with the Planning and Scheduling functions.

Preferred

  • Microsoft Project experience

  • Experience in Artwork Management Systems, SAP, and GCM TrackWise

  • Working knowledge of Merck policies & procedures, environmental, safety standards and guidelines, GMP's, governmental regulations (e.g. OSHA), industry and engineering standards

  • Operational knowledge of packaging processes and equipment for glass, plastic bottles, and coldform/thermoform blisters as related to component and labeling machinability
