Job Description

The Future Talent Program features co-ops that last up to 6 months with starting dates relatively flexible and will include one or more projects. These opportunities in our Research & Development Division can provide you with great development and a chance to see if we are the right company for your long-term goals.

Our Research & Development Division’s Pharmaceutical Sciences and Clinical Supply (PSCS) organization is responsible for translating a therapeutic agent into a functional drug product optimized for patients. Within PSCS, the Sterile & Specialty Products department is a multidisciplinary research group seeking candidates who will work collaboratively in a team environment to help solve key challenges in formulation development and manufacturing of parenteral pharmaceutical products. The candidate in this co-op will work in one of the following areas:

  • Formulation: Responsible for designing and developing sterile and specialty pharmaceutical products for biologics and small molecules, including screening and designing robust drug product compositions, developing scalable processes, and defining primary packaging.

  • Biopharmaceutics: Responsible for developing mechanistic understanding of drug absorption via various routes of administration and biopharmaceutics strategy for formulation-pharmacokinetic bridging in all clinical stages of drug product development.

The candidate will participate in departmental and project team meetings to provide a broad perspective on the drug development process in the pharmaceutical industry. In addition, the candidate will have an opportunity to present their research results in both oral and written formats. During your co-op appointment you will work closely with an experienced pharmaceutical industry scientist on a research project with key tasks that include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Design and execute research experiments

  • Apply scientific concepts to execute work in a lab environment to advance the understanding of parenteral drug products

  • Ensure effective execution of assigned projects while adhering to safe lab practices, policies, and providing clear communication within and external to the team

Required Education & Experience:

  • Candidates must hold or be a currently enrolled undergraduate student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Material Science, or related fields

OR

  • Candidates must a hold or be a currently enrolled graduate student pursuing a Masters or PhD in Engineering, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Material Science, or related fields

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Candidates should have effective oral and written communication skills

  • Candidates should have strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Candidates should have basic laboratory skills and research experience, such as: electronic notebook recording, analytical techniques, and safe lab practices

  • Candidates should have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
