The Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research (NIBR San Diego) has been on the frontline of innovative drug discovery for over 21 years.<br><br>Join us to make a difference in medicine for the next twenty years!<br><br>The global discovery chemistry department (GDC) is looking for a highly motivated scientist skilled in synthetic chemistry, purification technology, and analytical chemistry to support programs in the thematic areas of cancer research, regenerative medicine, covalent drug discovery, and siRNA. The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team along with other drug discovery disciplines to craft new synthetic molecules that will drive the future of medicine.<br><br>Primary responsibilities:<br>Work as part of a small team focused on utilizing novel methodologies for batch and library synthesis of small-molecule drug candidates, to support and advance drug discovery projects<br>Carry out multi-step, batch, library and flow chemistry syntheses of small molecules, utilizing modern automated purification and analytical equipment, and advanced data handling approaches. This includes identifying and solving synthetic issues to drive highest quality compound production.<br>Support novel compound synthesis for structure activity relationship (SAR) analysis on biological assays and follow up with new hypotheses and experiments.<br>Communicate and present scientific and technical work to colleagues in small and large group settings<br>Collaborate with scientific teams across the San Diego and global Novartis sites<br>Adhere to laboratory safety policies and practices including the use of electronic record keeping<br><br>
