Biomedical Research Program Analyst
The Life Sciences division of the Leidos Health Group is seeking a Mid-level Biomedical Research Program Analyst with knowledge of program management activities within Department of Defense (DoD) and/or other federal biomedical research and development (R&D) programs to support a DoD executive office.
The Mid-level Biomedical Research Program Analyst will provide diverse analytical and operational support for a range of activities associated with strategic and execution-level management of biomedical R&D programs. These activities include strategic program planning; conduct of program evaluations; conduct of market research; review and/or development of business processes and administrative policies associated with research operations; analysis and tracking of research program technical and business data; and development of reports and briefings. The analyst will work with research programs spanning a broad range of biomedical investigation, ranging from basic research through clinical studies, and involving diverse scientific areas including human physiology and performance, neuroscience, microbiology, immunology, toxicology, pharmacology, medical devices and medical information systems. This position is based in Frederick, MD, with telework option negotiable for local candidates, and may involve some local travel and limited other travel (typically less than 1 week per year).
What you will do: (Primary Responsibilities)
Contribute to the design and execution of projects involving collection and analyses of standard business, scientific, or programmatic data.
Conduct detailed analysis, integration, categorization, and summarization of a broad spectrum of biomedical, health-related and/or programmatic information and data in tabular, graphic and/or narrative formats, as well as within information systems.
Coordinate data calls to program offices and laboratories, including preparing templates and instructions, tracking and collection of responses, and review and integration of the data; May also prepare data call responses.
Gather data from diverse sources including but not limited to federal databases, public websites, and direct interviews with subject matter experts.
Provide conclusions and recommendations based on data analysis and other activities to inform program planning and project execution.
Coordinate with government program managers and program management staff in completing projects.
Support the planning and coordinating of technical and management meetings (e.g., program review meetings, scientific workshops, program planning meetings, scientific or business working group meetings), including logistics arrangements and the development of meeting documentation when needed.
Serve as the lead for projects of moderate complexity.
What you need to succeed: (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in the biomedical sciences or other discipline relevant to medical R&D and 4-8 years of prior relevant experience not limited to laboratory experience, or Master’s degree with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience.
Detail-oriented with excellent analytical skills, critical thinking, and be capable of independent action and initiative.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, demonstrate strong organizational abilities and interpersonal skills in coordinating group activities.
Experience in analyzing and preparing visualizations and summaries of scientific-related and preferably programmatic data, and ability to conduct data analyses in MS Excel.
Familiarity with the practice and management of biomedical R&D.
Ability to interact in a positive and competent manner with individuals at all levels of responsibility.
Willingness to work across a wide range of rapidly changing and divergent management issues, while providing a high level of customer focus and responsiveness, as well as open and frequent coordination and discussion with a multidisciplinary and goal-oriented group.
Candidates must be US citizens with the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
Direct experience with federal government or similar R&D program. administration/management activities (e.g., strategic planning, program evaluation, program monitoring/oversight, grant management, science policy) is highly desired.
Knowledge of the Department of Defense Planning, Programming, Budgeting and Execution (PPBE) process.
Familiarity with scientific/organizational budgets and related administrative processes are also desirable.
Knowledge of principles of project management.
Currently possess or recently held a Public Trust or higher level clearance to expedite in-processing actions.
