Position Overview:

We are seeking a talented and motivated Postdoctoral Scientist with expertise in biochemistry and a strong interest for in-silico predictive approaches to join the Biologics Upstream Process Development group at our company's Research Laboratory site in Kenilworth, NJ. The postdoctoral fellow will work in close collaboration with process development scientists, analytical R&D, and data scientists at our company to advance the understanding of host cell protein expression and strategies to control it.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Literature mining

  • Apply systems biology tools to understand how host cell protein expression is regulated

  • Express and purify key host cell proteins

  • Characterize binding of HCPs to recombinant proteins of interest

  • Conduct research with the goal of addressing HCP challenges in drug substances produced from mammalian cells

  • Attend and actively participate in department and group meetings

  • Attend and actively participate to our company and external scientific symposiums and meetings/seminars

  • Write and review publications and manuscripts

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • PhD or will you have completed your PhD within the next year, in biochemistry, computational biology, biochemical engineering, protein engineering, biotechnology or related field

  • Less than 3 years of postdoctoral experience or plans to graduate with a PhD by July 2022

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and general protein engineering techniques

  • Experience with analytical techniques, such as surface plasmon resonance, flow cytometry etc.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Experience with systems biology tools and interpretation highly preferred

  • Computational biology/structural biology skills preferred

  • Familiarity with protein purification techniques

Under New York City, Washington State and California State law, the Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.

Expected salary range:

$75,000.00-$86,000.00
