Position Summary

We are seeking an intern to join the Protein Science team at our state-of-the-art facility in Cambridge, MA. The qualified candidate will execute a series of experiments designed to optimize a multi-step purification. The candidate will effectively utilize the operation of an integrated automation robot to perform small scale, high-throughput mammalian protein expression and purification playing a major role in support of biotherapeutic discovery efforts at BMS and may have an opportunity to impact the development of new automation capabilities within the group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in executing both manual and automation method development experiments for multi-step protein purification.
  • Effectively utilize an automated integrated robotic system to perform mammalian transient transfections and protein purifications in a plate-based setting.
  • Perform mammalian protein expression using transient transfection and antibody purification and quantitation
  • Ensure accurate registration of protein lots and associated data into Genedata.
  • Maintain a complete and current Electronic Laboratory Notebook.
  • Collaborate in multi-disciplinary drug discovery teams, communicate results both written and verbally with matrixed working group.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Completed coursework in biology and biochemistry
  • Experience using graduated pipettes and single-channel or multichannel pipettes
  • Must be detail oriented with great communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Mammalian cell culture, purification and aseptic technique is desirable
