Be a part of the legacy: Postdoctoral Research Fellow Program

Our Research Laboratories’ Postdoctoral Research Fellow Program aims to be a best-in-industry program for industrial postdoctoral researchers, designed to provide you with an academic focus in a commercial environment. With the resources, reach, and expertise of a large pharmaceutical company, postdoctoral researchers will be positioned to excel in an institution committed to breakthrough innovation in research and discovery.

What You'll Be Doing:

The Preformulation-Predictive Sciences group develops creative and novel solutions to address significant unmet needs in the biopharmaceutical drug product development space. The Preformulation organization is continuing to build key scientific expertise in computational modeling of key molecular and macroscopic protein processes. Thus, we are seeking a highly motivated and driven postdoctoral individual that will lead the development of the next-generation computational and statistical tools to predict and mitigate physical instability challenges in protein-based formulations. The successful candidate will work in an interdisciplinary environment, contributing to cross-functional teams and gaining insight into many aspects of biotherapeutic and vaccine discovery, development and manufacturing. The Postdoctoral Fellow is expected to author scientific papers on their research and present novel findings at scientific conferences.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop molecular and mesoscale protein models to characterize pertinent thermodynamic and kinetic problems in drug products.

  • Leverage novel molecular algorithms and existing modeling software to computationally simulate relevant molecular and macroscopic phenomena in proteins.

  • Handle and process large experimental and computational data sets for model training and validation.

  • Lead or facilitate meetings with both internal and external collaborators and participate in cross-functional teams at project-related topics.

  • Publish results in peer-reviewed journals and present in both internal and external scientific conferences.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Candidates must currently hold a PhD OR will receive a PhD by Fall 2022 in Bioinformatics, Biophysics, Physical or Computational Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or related fields.

  • High flexibility and adaptability to further develop and learn new skills in a dynamic work environment.

  • Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: Fortran, C, C++, Python, or R is required.

  • Strong interest in learning the development and execution of both traditional and advanced computational molecular simulation methods.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills and a proven track-record in scientific publications.

  • Desire for learning protein physics and instability phenomena associated to protein solutions.

  • Experience or the motivation for learning Statistical Thermodynamics and Hydrodynamics principles applied to biomolecules, polymers or colloids.

  • Knowledge of basic principles behind biophysical, biochemical, and/or molecular biological experimental methods in proteins is a plus.

  • A strong passion to drive cutting edge science and collaborations for the benefit of patients around the world.

We are a research-driven biopharmaceutical company. Our mission is built on the simple premise that if we “follow the science” that great medicines can make a significant impact to our world. We believe that a research-driven enterprise dedicated to world-class science can succeed by inventing medicine and vaccine innovations that make a difference for patients across the globe.
