Job Description:

Leidos is currently seeking a full-time Research Assistant to support the Health and Behavioral Sciences Program at the Naval Health Research Center in San Diego, CA.

The Research Assistant will work collaboratively with the full research team, including Principal Investigators, research scientists, data analysts and subject matter experts. Under direct supervision, this role will support research to modernize the existing U.S. Navy Search and Rescue (SAR) database, examine gaps in en route care (ERC), and assess outcomes following limited duty status. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, able to take initiative, and work well both independently and in a team environment.

Due the COVID-19 pandemic, employees are highly encouraged to work remotely from their home office, although visits to the Naval Health Research Center in San Diego will occasionally be required. Longer term, this position will be required to be on-site at the Naval Health Research Center at least 2 days per week.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct literature searches and summarize findings of published studies

  • Maintain study documentation and guidelines, such as data dictionaries, study progress documents, and

  • Perform data entry and data validation

  • Review, prepare, and contribute to project materials, reports, and manuscripts Participate collaboratively in team meetings

  • Generate tables, graphs, and other simple data visualizations for inclusion in disseminated products

  • Participate in ongoing trainings related to the proper conduct of research

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant social science field (e.g., psychology, sociology, epidemiology, public health, economics)

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • Proven capability to understand and follow a research study protocol, obtain training and seek assistance when needed, and accurately perform or assess required protocol procedures

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy, and flexibility Demonstrated experience in interacting effectively with diverse groups

  • Due to federal contract restrictions, candidate must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of experience working with military populations Experience conducting research involving human subjects
