Bristol Myers Squibb is recruiting for a Principal Scientist that is a key leadership position responsible for method development and characterization in biologics impurity center of excellence. The Impurity Center of Excellence is accountable for establishing analytical control strategy of biologics process related impurities including development of phase-appropriate analytical methods for drug candidates in Bristol Myers Squibb portfolio spanning early- and late-stage clinical programs through commercialization. This position reports to the head of Impurity CoE and serves as a key member in the CoE leadership team.

The Principal Scientist will assist in formulating analytical strategy and decisions for the implementation of robust analytical techniques for the measurement and/or identification of impurities in biologic products. The Principal Scientist will be responsible for method development; the methods will be designed, developed, and optimized to identify, and quantitate residual process impurities in drug substance, including Host Cell Proteins.

The Principal Scientist is expected have a demonstrated history of technical accomplishments, scientific critical thinking, and interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral. The Principal Scientist will provide guidance to the direct reports (scientists) and other scientists in the CoE for method development and analytical control strategy and is expected to author and review scientific documents.

Bristol Myers Squibb has a strong biologics portfolio of innovative therapeutics that includes approved biologic medicines and clinical assets in diverse compound modalities including bispecific, antibody, fusion protein, antibody-drug conjugate, and fixed dose combination regimes. The Principal Scientist will be working on multiple early-, mid-, and late-phase biologic compounds across various therapeutic modalities, and actively partner with various development & commercialization groups.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, analytical chemistry, or a related discipline with 5-10 years of relevant experience in bio/pharmaceutical industry or M.S. with a minimum of 10-15 years of experience.
  • Proficient with a variety of analytical techniques, such as LC-MS of host cell proteins or therapeutic proteins, immunoassays (ELISA), quantitative PCR (qPCR, ddPCR), HPLC, electrophoresis and related techniques.
  • Working knowledge and hands on experience in developing robust analytical methods.
  • Be able to work in a team environment, operate independently in alignment with departmental strategy, foster collaborations, and drive project and team deliverables.
