Job Description

We seek a collaborative and highly innovative computational and systems biologist to join our Predictive Sciences team to develop integrative computational and screening strategies that originate, elucidate and prioritize our next-generation targeted protein degradation therapies in both hematological and solid tumor indications.

This role will work with internal and external collaborators to develop new computational capabilities to accelerate our drug discovery pipeline. The successful applicant will play a key scientific role in characterizing novel mechanism of action (MoA) for protein degradation using multi-omics compound profiling data, identifying model systems and working with experimental groups to validate compound activities, binding specificity, MoA and relevant therapeutic hypothesis. We seek candidates who are passionate about learning a new drug discovery paradigm, bringing new medicines to the patients, and being comfortable working in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Identify protein degradation mechanisms that can be leveraged for chemical space exploration and expansion, and interrogate these mechanisms for compound positioning/repurposing.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners for target inference and MoA characterization using profiling data from proteomics, transcriptomics, and phenomics screens
  • Identify appropriate model systems and drive experimental strategies to validate compound activity, binding specificity to its targets, and MoA using high throughput and targeted assays.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in chemo-informatics and computer-aided drug design team to relate compound's chemical features with their MoA.
  • In-house adaptation of high-throughput technologies to generate and validate various hypotheses.
  • Author scientific reports and present methods, results, and conclusions to a publishable standard.
  • Contribute to planning and executing collaborative projects with leading academic and commercial research groups worldwide.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in computational biology, systems biology, bioinformatics, or related discipline.
  • 8+ years of post-doctoral experience in applying computational and analytical approaches in university, pharma, or biotech settings, focusing on drug discovery, or elucidating underlying disease pathology.
  • Proven expertise in analyzing and interpreting data from various assays used to validate compound's effect and properties, such as assays for protein-ligand binding, compound induced degradation, cell migration, viability, etc.
  • Extensive experience in analyzing various molecular profiles such as transcriptomics, proteomics, and scRNA-seq.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze genome-wide CRISPR/CAS9 screen for essentiality, drug sensitivity, and drug resistance along with screen design.
  • Strong scientific understanding of molecular biology in Oncology.
  • Expertise in programming and scripting languages (R, Python, or Matlab).
  • Track record of peer-reviewed publications in top-tier scientific journals, particularly with proven cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Proven problem-solving skills, collaborative nature, and adaptability across disciplines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Fluent verbal and written English language skills.
  • Strong statistical background.

Preferred Experience

  • Knowledge of drug discovery in pre-clinical and early phase drug development stages.
  • Knowledge of various compound screening data repositories
  • Experience in machine learning/deep learning.
